Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I performed a search for this issue but couldn't seem to find a resolution. I am using Beyond411 v4.20 and am having issues with the search results when using my GPS receiver. I have a Pearl 8100 with the GPSlim 240 Bluetooth receiver. The program detects that I have a GPS receiver but the search results are showing results from North Carolina. I am in Georgia. I have tried refreshing the Bluetooth receiver, as well as deleting it and readding it. Still gives me incorrect results for my location.

The receiver does properly locate me when using Google Maps. Is there something I am missing?

Mine wasn't picking up a movie theater right across the street, so I deleted it and downloaded window mobile search one. try that out for a while.

Mines, Berry411 keeps saying there is no places found in my area. This is searching for Walgreens in the city of Denver, CO. We have a Walgreens on almost every corner... I haven't seen Phil around but someone said he is on a new business venture. I wish him luck and will give window mobile a try.

I searched and ended up with a product called Live Search v1.5.2860.13336 from Live Search (Blackberry friendly link)

It looks like a Microsoft product. Is this what you guys were describing? The GPS works well with this program even down in my basement. Also, I like that it sorts the results by distance from where you are.

This will be nice but I still hope Phil can fix Berry411. I guess I'm a loyalist...

Thanks for the bug report, I will investigate. I may need your help to verify a fix- my 8800 with GPS died and my new curve doesn't have it.

Anything you need Phil just ask and it shall be given. I've been using Microsoft live and to be honest, I miss my berry 411...

One other thing I noticed using Live Search Phil, I don't know if this helps or not...

There are times when you go to do a look up and you get a screen that says, "No GPS Location. Current GPS location unavailable. Use the last known position?" There we have a selection to go back or have it use the previous (stored) GPS position.

The no GPS screen pops up immediately so I don't know if there is a flag somewhere that says when GPS is avail or not but when it is not it is able to use the stored or last known position. This could be home when I am at work or visa versa. Not sure what that's all about but I thought it might help...

Also, it would sure be nice if you can make the hits display in order of closest to furthest. I don't know if you can sort them by the distance field but boy would that make Berry411 that ultimate of all ultimates...

I was having this same problem. It worked fine for a while and then one day wouldnt find anything near my work location. I was running 4.20. I removed it and downloaded it again. I got ver 4.20.5 and it has been working OK since then. Not sure if because of 4.20.5 or just because I reloaded it, but I would give that a try.

When I had 4.20 and checked it said I had the latest version.

My mind may be going here, but I swear one of the earlier versions of Berry411 did sort them by distance, but the current one definitely doesn't - and I agree, would be a lot nicer if it did.

Sometimes Windows Live Search has a problem "seeing" the GPS. I've seen that as well.

It has a great UI for the phone, minimizes typing and is easy to use one-handed, and I find it gives very complete search results.

Google maps has a little more depth that is very nice to have in some cases (like menus for restaurants) but WLS is the best for quick and easy results.

I'm not to thrilled over the WLS UI. It takes too many steps or clicks to get the result. No auto complete and you have to hit the menu to see past searches. Not too cool for a guy behind the wheel of a car.

I also don't like the directions it gives. Not sure who they are getting them from but they really suck. Example, I am looking at one that says Turn Right onto I-70 Bus loop (US-287)... Took me a while to figure out this meant turn right on Colfax Ave. No where was their a sign that said I-70 Bus loop (US-287). I also noticed the directions are usually wrong and will not take you to the place you searched.

Further I noticed if you go strait to map, it doesn't come up in a useful resolution. The start and stop points are usually on top of each other so you have to zoom it in a few times to see where you're going. This in itself is not too bad except again, this is a person who is driving while using this thing. I'd like to keep my eye on the road which means little interaction as possible with my help...

Last, I see no place to give feedback for WLS even though it says Beta. It could be just me but I can't find a place to let them know the troubles I am having or to give suggestions. Seems like they don't care?

Where can I find Berry411 for my Blackberry Curve 8310 (Red). I went to the web site and I downloaded the file but it has the extension of .jab and my BB did not recognize it. I need the extension with .xlm (or something like that)

PM me your email address and I can send you an invite. I don't recall the app being hard to find... I think it's thebogles.com and if you add /berry411.jad on the device it installs OTA.

Wanting to kill Beyond411!!!

I just upgraded from a Curve 8300 to an 8310 with built in GPS and it seems like Beyond411 doesn't like me anymore. When I did YellowPages searches from my "Home" address is works fine, but with my GPS setup as my location is gets NO results!!!

I know others are having GPS problems. Any suggestions?

I'm using the latest version. 4.20.5

I'm not sure how, but mines did that for days then yesterday I noticed it was working. Now today I just tried it and I got a "Sorry, GPS is not currently available" which is cool if that's a fact and better than the empty results.

This has been a great little app for a long time, absolutely loved it and recommended it to many friends. Unfortunately, kinda sounds like Phil has moved on to new projects (which I hope are going well for him!) and doesn't have the time to support and update this that he used to. This was always a labor of love for Phil, although I (and many I think) would have been glad to pay for it. I think I'm going to try out the Microsoft one that several in this thread have mentioned also.

I wish I could use Microsoft's WLS. Unfortunately MS thinks Canada doesn't exist so that's not an option for me. At least Beyond411 works in Canada. Shame it doesn't work with the GPS on my 8310 though... :(

I guess I spoke to soon. I got the no results again today while trying to find a deli for lunch. I did notice that after I did a refresh of my GPS it was able to locate deli's in the area.

It doesn't even work when I refresh the GPS. I just get a message saying it can't find any results. Only when using the GPS though? As I said originally, when using a set address, like home or work, it can find results.

I just uninstalled Beyond411 for now because I'd rather use Google Maps to find listings. But if Beyond411 gets its GPS function together and working, I'll be all over it. It's the distance from where I am right now feature that I want.

Quick question, I set up Berry411 and put in my work and home locations. I used the city and state like was recommended in the review, and when I search for a local deli, it finds it, and when I click on the listing it takes me to Yahoo! maps, which isn't an issue. However, when I look @ the directions it gives me, the starting point is somewhere in AR, it tells me it will take 20hrs and 53mins to get there (I live in NJ!). It finds the city, but the state is way off. Doesn't make much sense. Does it matter that I am indoors? Thx
