RSS with Authentication

I've used the 'Search' feature and can't find a good answer to this.. Anyone have/know of an RSS reader that supports Authentication? There's a channel I'd love to subscribe to, but it is protected (I know it's unusual to have RSS protected, but it is).

Thanks,
JayT

Freerange Reader supports it, but you have to set up the user/pass from the web login. I don't see any options/controls to do it from the handheld, but the choices are sitting right here in my web login to enable user/pass for the feed.

Thanks...

Thanks... I just noticed the same thing with viigo... (freerange didn't run on my 4.2OS for some reason)

Seems strange that the developers include this option on the web, but not in their app.. Must be something that this newbie doesn't understand.

Thanks again,
Jason

nah, I think it's because less than 5% (random guess) of the users need this feature, so none of the apps "waste" (in $$$ terms) their time coding it into the device-side programs; they can just have you go to the website and set it up. I read a whole bunch of RSS and not a single one requires a user/pass, for example (not saying it isn't valuable, just... uncommon).

True

True. Very True.

The recent build of Viigo does in fact have this option within the Edit Channel menu... only problem is that I'm not too sure you'll be able to add the channel without the authentication first..?

Viigo Supports it.

Go to the 'Add Channel' screen.

Launch the menu again, and select 'Enter URL'.

A dialog will be displayed.
Enter your username and password *first*, by selecting "Password..."

After you've entered your credentials, select 'ok'.

Back on the original dialog screen, enter the URL of the channel you wish to add.

Select "ok".

Hope this helps.
Pete
