Default PIM Issues/Looking for a Killer PIM App. - 02-02-2008, 03:55 PM

Hello. I own a BlackBerry (BB) Pearl 8100, which I like a lot.

This is my first smartphone. After a little use I noticed I could conceivably replace my Pocket PC with it.

I have noticed that tasks spanning several days only show on their due dates in the BB. I want them to appear everyday from start to due dates, unless completed.

Q1: Is there a way to, or an app that, can show these? (Is this a limitation of the BB OS?)

Additionally, when I owned a Palm OS device I used DateBook (DateBk) as my device personal information manager (PIM). I use Agenda Fusion in my Pocket PC, which shows tasks as described above, as well as past appointments. (My job requires keeping track of past tasks and appointments.)

Q2: Is there a similar PIM application for BlackBerry devices? (A Killer PIM app is a decision point for upgrading to a BB Curve. )

If this has been answered before, please “show the way”. Thanks in advance for your time & effort.

REXwireless: BlackBerry Software Applications

RexWireless products are awesome. I second that recommendation.

Thank you both.

I installed demos of both products and they fail upon start. Regardless of that, a question: Do they sync with Outlook? Or, do I have to (re)type my data into them?

The reason I mentioned Agenda Fusion is because it integrates Calendar, Contacts, Tasks *and* Notes in a single application that syncs with Outlook. Whatever is in my PC is also in my Pocket PC. (Contacts alone total 1,622. You could say I depend on my Pocket PC data.) Consider me an individual user, instead of a corporate/large enterprise user.

Is there such a PIM app in the BlackBerry world?

Give the Rex products a chance. Its the weekend, and they have tech support, but they are small and have families. I assure you by Monday, you will be contacted back and they will get you up and running. Dont give up on them until you have a chance to try. The errors though, may be easily fixable or user induced (sorry , so be patient until they get back with you. I have been running with the products for about a good year now, no problems, great texh support, great products!!!

I can certainly wait, my friend. What do you sync with, Lotus Notes?

I use Notes at work, but I transfer entries to Outlook for my Pocket PC (personal, not business unit). All my data, which I do not want to share at work, is there. The reason I wonder about an all-in-one PIM app for BlackBerry devices...

Q1: I'm a big fan of Rexwireless too. They are usually very good about getting back to users quickly, even after hours. todoMatrix isn't going to do what you want as there isn't a calendar view and it doesn't integrate with outlook. Both of these have been discussed on their forums and the latter is currently being developed.

Q2: The BB PIM sucks, and that's being nice. PocketInformation and Agendus have been discussed but so far both are vaporware. There is PocketDay; I used it up to about a year ago. If they added "Inject into..." (rexwireless) I'd try it again.

I find the today themes useful on the BB.

I strictly use RexWireless as my PIM (tasks/appointments (TodoMatrix),notes (IdeaMatrix)) and then the native address books for contacts, believe it or not. I use to sync with Outlook but had too many issues with some tasks being truncated and space running out on my device, I just like Rexs products better Plus you get products that have there own special designed database designed to conserve space on your blackberry. Win, win!!

DaBlackberryBoy, thanks for the input. I shall keep these options in mind.

Roofus, I checked your link; eWorks seems to fit my needs. Is a demo available for download? (I did not see a reference to any...) And, no, I (regrettably) have not done business with you or DynoPlex.
