Default Document Storage - 07-07-2005, 01:34 PM

What is the best or most popular software to store documents on a BlackBerry? In addition, is there a document storage software that can be centrally administered from the BES 4.0 console? For example, all berries will have four PDF documents and if the documents need to be updated then I use a software to centrally update the four PDFs. Thanks!

Not sure which document storage solution would be the best, but you could accomplish the same thing by emailing the 4 pdfs, and if any of them changes, re-send.

This would allow the users to utilize the email-based document viewing, prevents you from needing additional software, and allows you to centrally 'manage' which documents are given.

Just a thought...

Thanks for the reply. I have a couple of questions:

1. What would happen if the BlackBerry died? I am assuming the emails are long gone, correct?
2. There is a setting on the handheld that adjusts the number of days of email to hold? We are set to 15, but the max is 30. So...we would have to resend every 30 days?
3. Is there a file storage area on the 7290 Cingular? Basically, a save to are for files, emails and attachments ,etc.

Thanks!

1) Emails would be gone unless running on a Enterprise Server..
2) On the device goto Message -> Options -> General Options and it should be the last option that is listed there
3) kind of yes, kind of no... There is a specified area or path to locate files, but it's use is internal only..

I am on a BES but I also do this with my BWC account. You can make a sub folder to your inbox (I call mine storage) and store documents in there. As long as it is a sub folder to your inbox in BES you can select to have this folder wirelessly sync so that the document is really in the subfolder but it is viewable from your BB. I just select view folders ==> select my subfolder and anything I put in there will is viewable.

Our eFile Server Professional does what you asked for - it lets you put office documents to the devices. On the device you need to have our eFile or eOffice installed, eFile providing local storage on the device.

You can check it all out on www.dynoplex.com, we have free trials for both device and server components.
