I downloaded it, but with no instructions can't figure out how to use it. Seems to be some settings, but no idea what to select. I go to map and get a blank screen. I have a BB 7520.

a manual for the beta version is available here:
http://www.skylab-mobilesystems.com/...anual_beta.pdf

You have to select a "location provider" first, for the blackberry 7520:
Settings-> Location provider selection -> Location API (JSR-179)

To visualize a map you can activate the integrated worldmap layer:
Map -> Layermanager -> World map

or add map data from a Web Map Service:
Map -> Layermanager -> add Layer -> Web Map Service

you have to activate the Blackberry GPS support first, to see a position. Then you have to add a data layer to the map (see my answer above). If you still have problems to get it working please report your problem at http://www.skylab-mobilesystems.com/...s/spot_bug.php or write an e-mail to [email address].

I did exactly what was said above and than got a few other choices and now I get a WMS error in the lower left hand side of the display.

I know what I would like to see a map in the US but when I select Web Map I get prompted for either JPL world Map, MS terraserver, USGS EROS, or Geographynetwork. I have no idea which to pick and when I pick on than get a whole list of other choices that i have no clue what to pick.

It might be a great app but it is very confusing to setup for sure. I've been in IT for almost 10 years and I can't figure it out lol. A regular end user wouldn't have a clue.

I finally got it to get my position (I think it was correct, not sure). I selected the addlayer, web map service and geographynetwork.com. It parsed 108 layers, I went through and selected a few to test and then went to the map. It showed a square where I think I was supposed to be, in the bottom left it showed WMS ERROR in red, but on the right it showed loading. After about a minute it rebooted the BB.

Still playing around to see if it will show a map.

I did the same but chose Microsoft Terraserver, it gave me 84 layers and I chose a bunch it showed a map I am not sure of where, I assume it picks your GPS location? Will play around some more and see what I get.

This looks to me kind of like a GIS mapping program????

I've tried different map servers, I can get it to show a world map with a square where I am, but can't get any kind of detail map at all. I assume it has to do with the WMS error I keep getting??

Your getting farther than me. I tried each of the map servers and all I keep getting is a blank screen with the WMS error. One of the Map servers I got a x and y location than went to the error. I even went in to the location based settings and set to unrestricted just in case and still nothing.

Has anyone got it working yet?

At least you guys can download it, all I get is "907 Invalid JAR." If anyone knows why this is happening post it up, cause I have no idea.

I'm with waters, I get the world map with a blue square over Indiana and my current position. I also get the wms error at the bottom left. I tried different OGC WMS settings but the only 1 I can get to work at all is the JPL world map. I get timeout errors on the other 3. It will try to "parse layers", get to 2 then I get a network error and it stops.

now I can zoom in and out by setting up the switch key, but have lost my current lat/long. The really bad thing now is my BB keeps shutting down when I try to pan to current position. :(

I think I'm getting closer. I have my location, I can zoom in, I can see cities of Cincy, St Louis, Chicago and Indy. I changed the ogc layers and now see rivers too. I can see all of these details for about 5 seconds each time I zoom, then all of the layers go away and I get a grey screen with my blue square in the middle. I still have my lat and long across the top of the screen. Any ideas skylab? BB7520

I got pretty much as far as you, anyone find a way to save so you donot have to go through adding layers and parsing every time. Also I do not see my long and lat like you said you have?

Lat and Long is across the top in blue. You have to have it check your position in the set-up. Too be able to see the roads and rivers I removed some of the layers and now see the interstate around Indy, I see airports and railroads. This is the custom layer I set in geographynetwork.com. This is the bottom option in the OGC WMS screen. Now the only layer I use is the OGC layer.

OK got the lat and long, used the geographynetwork.com, I get like 79 layers, what's the best ones to use?

What do you mean the OGC is the only layer you use, where or what is that?
