SWEET! Is this in response to the almost-robbery that one of our members experienced with her BlackBerry? Many thanks to the team. EDIT: thanks dexmobile, I just bought my copy. |
dexmobile: the "thank you" email with the key your system sends was trapped as SPAM by by ISP's email system - this is very, very uncommon, 99.99% of the time they only trap real spam. Here is why they believe it was spam to help your team maybe rewrite that email content: Content analysis details: (6.0 points, 5.0 required) Code: pts rule name description |
Just bought mine! $5.00 to secure my personal info is cheap insurance. |
Thanks for the GREAT discount, DexMobile, very nice offer. I will be needing this. |
Thanks, DexMobile! I haven't EVER paid for any 3rd party apps for a BB, but I just bought this one! |
Uh oh, this is not good. On my Sprint 8130, I downloaded this app and am getting: Uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.system.UnsupportedOperationExce ption. Happens after a hard reboot and if I click on the RobLock icon. I've opened a trouble ticket with DexMobile..... |
DexMobile - usage question. If I reboot my device, RobLock shows up in the Task List of my device, it's either running or a thread is actively sleeping (is that an oxymoron?). If I click that icon it brings the app up, but then if I hit ESC without logging in (not the Exit button, but that also works) the application exits and no longer shows up in my task list. So, what is the proper thing I should be seeing? Should the RobLock icon always be showing in my task list for it to be running? Is it running (protecting) if I don't see the icon in the task list? I'm a little confused, I'm getting conflicting operational results and am unsure what's normal or supposed to be the correct methodology to ensure I'm properly protected... |

Hello rivviepop, The Roblock icon in the tasklist indicates that you are protected. You can disable Roblock by ending the task. However when the device is rebooted, the application autostarts again and thus will notify you about a change of SIM card, if any. The manual shutdown option of Roblock may be useful when you need a bit of extra memory for some resource intensive applications. And thank you for reporting the email content issue. We will be updating the template soon. With Regards DexMobile |

If so, then what happens - reboot your device and the app autostarts. Open the task list, click on the icon and the program comes front & center with the login screen. Now press the ESC key without logging in (as in, maybe you accidentally clicked the wrong icon in the task list, I do that a lot) - the application has exited, you are no longer protected. Not necessarily a bug, but I think the design should be that an ESC key from the app itself should shunt the app to the background again, not exit. Many, many people use the ESC key instead of the red (hang up) key assuming an app like yours will remain running, including myself. If you (the user with a bad memory) have to remember that the app needs the red/hangup key to background it, this will lead to people not having it running in the background. I realize the normal applications exit with the ESC keypress, which makes perfect sense - they are not really intended to be running the way RobLock runs. Some, though, do understand this - GMail (and Gmail for Domains), MSDict (language lookup app) and others do not exit when ESC is pressed, they background themselves. I think that having RobLock running all the time is very important, so it shouldn't exit on an ESC keypress to help the user from un-protecting themselves accidentally (like me :) ). Quote:

DexMobile- Does the device send you an e-mail or something to confirm that the wipe was successfully initiated? In other words, if my BB is stolen and I initiate the remote wipe, I'd like to have some sort of confirmation that it worked. Otherwise, I'd always wonder whether or not it was successful, or if the thief has access to the information contained on my BB. Especially in light of the issues referenced above with the escape key closing out of the program, I think it would be incredibly useful if the program could send an e-mail to a designated e-mail address to confirm the wipe. Obviously, this couldn't be done AFTER the wipe, but maybe as a beginning step it could send an e-mail saying that the wipe process has BEGUN. At least it would be something to give the user peace of mind knowing that the wipe most likely worked. |

(let's hope this was maybe a bug with the app running on a 8320 or something, not the intended design) |
Is there a working discount code available? Looks like a great program! |
