Sorry if this has been posted before but i just encountered a bug in the new JiveTalk build.

When i highlight my user name and go to set my buddy icon, i get the following message:

(1) The application JiveTalk $2dBlackBerry$2dpearl has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the Firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.

Then this exception: classjava.lang.SecurityException, Permission denied.

This has never happened to me in any other JiveTalk build before but after upgrading to 1.0.5 i get this message on " set buddy icon ".

P.S. I hope i didn't miss any settings but i have tried setting permissions, rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc, etc.

Hope The BeeJive Team fixes this and hopefully it's just only me but this might be a bug to some.

Is the firewall enabled? I know that when the buddy icons first appeared BeeJive talked about the possibility of having to disable the firewall all together in order to get it to work.

Well, on the previous build i had it enabled and the reason being is that another application called ( My Alarm ), need the firewall to be enabled in order to work. I know, it sounds crazy but that was the only work around found for the application on the newer OS's.

Overall, i think it's this new build " 1.0.5 ", didn't happen to me on the previous version. So now what? i have JiveTalk on pretty much all the time and i also need the Alarm Application, lol.

I will try disabling it just to rectify. *EDIT*, i did and the set buddy icon works like it did on the previous version without having to disable the firewall. I guess issue solved? or can JiveTalk make this sympton go away like it was gone in the previous version?

If JiveTalk nor the creator of the MyAlarm Application which is " lhurtado " can't do anything about this issue then i guess my best bet would be to stick to the Default Alarm application cause i need me my JIVETALK!!!!, haha or i can just disable the firewall everytime i need to set a buddy icon and then enable it again to use the 3rd party alarm application?

Will enabling the firewall cause some restrictions and conflicts? thanks for your help.

P.S. Hope you understood my question and i'm open to suggestions.

Seems like this new version is just a little buggy, which I'm sure they will fix in short order.

did you even read the whole thread? JiveTalk isnt buggy. the OP enabled the firewall on his device and its blocking JiveTalk from setting buddy icons because it has to communicate with its server. The problem is the user having the firewall enabled

jivetalk has always been stable for me

yea it def beats that OEM yahoo application from RIM that leaks memory like a faucet
