Google has put out a service that will sync your Google Calendar with your Outlook calendar at set intervals.

So through use of this as well as the Google Calendar Sync, you effectively get pretty close to what BES does (and Google's mail gives instant push to the BB as well).

nice ... now if they'd only sync my contacts, tasks, and notes; I'd no longer use DM.

Its been available for a while now. It won't support anything older than Outlook 2003.

If you like Microsoft's Outlook e-mail client software but hate the expense of licensing and running Exchange Server, Cemaphore Systems has a proposition for you: a subscription service that effectively lets people dump Exchange in favor of Google's cloud-computing infrastructure.

The product, called Mailshadow for Google Apps, or MailShadow G, is being made available in a beta test version on Wednesday, according to the company. Cemaphore says the product ultimately will be licensed via a monthly subscription fee.

Cemaphore says the service "instantaneously synchronizes e-mail, calendars, and contacts between Outlook, Exchange, and Gmail." Translation: If you want to get rid of Exchange and run your e-mail back end on Google, this is the product for you.

problem with that app is you lose control over your data. i like the exchange aspect, keeping everything in house first, then if the end user wants to sync with gcal or gmail its an option. bypassing that first step limits alot of security.

Agreed 110%.. I would not be confortable having my data sitting on a server that I cannot control..

its why i removed my device from my company BES and get my email through BIS now. i have my own BES that i run for me, and after having that control i just cant give it up again

I recently received a phone call from one of my users who had used this program - just so people know (as my user was rather shocked), Google only syncs 6 months in advance, and 1 month behind. However, any appointment farther than 6 months behind or 1 month behind gets deleted on Outlook and on the BlackBerry.

This is what I have heard. Just wanted a FYI notice.
