Default Decent alarm program? - 03-27-2008, 03:26 AM

I love my Curve but I'm very disappointed with the alarm that comes with it. I'd like to setup multiple alarms for specific days. I read about a program (called MyAlarm, I think?) that was perfect, and free, but alas it has apparently been broken with an OS upgrade. The only way to fix it is to enable the firewall, which would interfere with my other programs. Is there an alternative out there?

I use Mobylo alarm. It has everything you are looking for. Not cheap but very good. Here is the link:

That's a bit steep for just an alarm program, I may have to check it out if I can't find anything else though. Thanks for the link.

Those are the only two alternatives, that I know of.

While I too, balked at $30 for an alarm program -- it is the best out there (free, pay or otherwise). It has never failed for any reason.

Actually, there’s this program I remembered downloading a while ago. It’s pretty basic, but it’ll do the multiple alarms you want (up to 6 different alarm schedules) and best of all…. IT’S FREE!! Let me know how you like it. You can find it here….

Yep, MyAlarm is THE free choice, it just doesn't work for all (as the OP posted above) on a higher OS version. I have tried and tried (thoroughly) and gotten no where. BUT it is a good program for others.

I'm currently using MyAlarm on my BB8800, firmware 4.2.1.101 and firewall disabled, without issue. Granted the BB8800 OS isn't the highest but it's up there.

I'm gonna go ahead and download MyAlarm, because after reading the thread again it seems that some got it to work without the firewall enabled. If that doesn't work I'll spring for the Mobylo. Thanks again guys, love this forum for all the knowledgeable people.

I should add that I tried MyAlarm first before Mobylo's Multi-Alarm. I did not have firewall issues (since I leave mine off) and it worked great.

However, at the time (and perhaps this has changed now), MyAlarm did not autostart on phone reboot. So that is the main #1 reason I went for Mobylo's alarm application. Perhaps someone can confirm/deny that MyAlarm is signed and/or can autostart now, in case that factors into someone's decision in the future.

The versions I have do not auto start nor does the website mention that ability.

I tried MyAlarm, couldn't get it to work with or without the firewall enabled. If the default beep included with the program were just a little louder it'd be fine, but as is it's not loud enough to wake me. Shame, too, because it's a nice program.

If your issue is that the tones are not loud enough, you can download a .wav file and use it with your existing BB alarm. I found a wav file of all the clocks going off in Pink Floyd's Time and assigned it to my alarm. Its long and its very loud. Cycling it 3 times and bumping the volume all the way up can wake the dead IMO.

If your thumbs don't hurt, you're not doing it right.

Try a Search or see the BB FAQ

Not to spam my site or anything but I was in the same boat -- I had an alarm but my tones weren't nearly as loud and annoying enough to make me rise from the dead, so I created my own.

I've got it in WAV and MP3 downloadable at My Phone Alarm Tone - Espresso Report
