Thank you for this wonderful little app. I have a (more than) adequate data plan - at a price though because it's Rogers, but it's still nice to know what my data usage is.

Question I wanna try... - 04-18-2008, 03:56 PM

I'm interested in trying this minimoni app. but I have a BB pearl that says it is v4.3.0.66...does that mean that I have to wait for a newer version of the traffic monitor?

Great little free app... Agree with Nickyj... Can't wait until unlimited Rogers but in the mean time, although I have 200 Megs or something like that (at a monthly cost of about $100), I do like to know that I'm well within that.

Default Refuse to install MiniMoni - 05-15-2008, 08:32 AM

Tried installing the MiniMoni software to my Blackberry Curve 8320 using the application loader but kept getting the error message 'No additional application designed for your device were found' when I select the MiniMoni.alx file.

Have I done sometime wrong? Or is it just not compatible with this device? Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Many thanks.

Default OS Version - 05-15-2008, 09:23 AM

It is version 4.2 for both the Blackberry Core Applications and System Software.

And version 4.2.2 for the Attachment Service and Messenger.

You need to download the corresponding OS files from RIM that match what you have on your device; they are required to be installed if you want to use the Application Loader to install ALX-based software for the 8300 series (OS 4.2.2.XXX) devices.

I do believe there's a FAQ entry on this, and there are definitely tons of threads that will help you get it done (rather than clutter up this one).

It doesn't count wifi for sure. Tested by several users.

I know that AxelE has said that it has not been updated for 4.5 yet, so this post may be moot, but I've noticed that MiniMoni does not track streaming data usage over cellular when using both xPlayer and mediaPlayer on my 8320 on OS v4.5.0.52.

(Actually, I'm not convinced that it's tracking any app correctly. Worked great on v4.2.2 though!)

The last version 1.01.03 definitely does not work properly on 4.5. Today there is no version yet, which works good on 4.5. Some tests have been made, but currently the accuracy is very poor.

Do you have access to your providers traffic counting? If yes you could help me to compare the results of the beta with the data of your provider.

Hi AlexlE,

I called my provider today asking if they could give me access to the counting data, and they said they couldn't, that the numbers are only consolidated at billing time. I don't know enough about the cell networks to know if that's nonsense or not.

My monthly statement only lists a summary of data usage (total KB used). I dunno if that's helpful to you or not.

Minimoni doesn't appear to support EVDO data (ie: Telus/Verizon), so that means it's a useless app to me.

I just installed the latest version on my 8703e w/4.2.1.110 firmware. I get no usage data whatsoever after checking Gmail and loading a few webpages. :(

I could really use this as I am now in charge of administering a BES and dealing with greedy crackberry users who need to be reminded how much they are costing us.

Is there any word when this will be added? I am definitely willing to be a beta tester and I have several dozen guinea pigs..

I'm still stuck with a bad data plan, 1 more month before I can shift. Thanks for Minimoni I know how much I really need.

Any idea when we might see a 4.5 version? I am on Rogers and love this app, but I am now using 4.5. :(

Could you please check in your "Options" "Status" what is the platform version?

There does exist an beta. But I'm not satisfied at all with accuracy.

I agree, I like knowing my usage, but a good way to make sure you don't go over (with Rogers) is to call Rogers and switch to the promotional $30/6 GIG plan.

What I'm getting dinged with is usage when roaming. Just received a bill with $800 in data roaming charges. Now, that I'd like to monitor!!

Thx to all for the great advice!

You mean Options>About on the 8703e?

v4.2.1.110 (Platform 2.3.0.22)

The 8703e is a CDMA device that runs on Verizon and Telus.
Minimoni runs, but shows no traffic at all no matter what I do.

oh what a shame, I just discovered this app through a blog somewhere and got all excited! I get 250MB a month, but I dont pay the bill, work does, so i dont wanna break it!

ps, you gotta love OrangeUK's idea of "unlimited"

keep going on a 4.5.x.x version, it surely is a top 3 most useful app...

Default is minimoni DEAD? - 02-03-2009, 12:36 PM

Hi,

is minimoni dead? i've been waiting for some time for a 4.5+ (4.6 now - got a BOLD) update and there doesn't seem to be anything going on.

Alas, I am with Rogers and don't have the option of an unlimited data plan...

anyone know of any good alternatives? Minimoni was by far the best I've found... too bad it seems to be dead... :(

As per the developer, version 4.5 is not supported and there's no forecast of when a new version with 4.5 support will be available.
