IdeaMatrix Client Release Level 2008.03.01.4x

Quote:
1) Added password option on entry with adjustable idle period (see Profile Preferences).

2) Improved expand / collapse drawer functionality, optimized for trackball equipped BlackBerry smartphones. Enhancements include left / right support while cursor is on any folder within a drawer.

3) Added new expand all / collapse all functionality on the ALL cabinet icon.

4) Optimized startup of IdeaMatrix, reducing startup time approximately 400%.

5) Added International and European date format support (see Profile Preferences)

6) Added four user-definable dimensions to IdeaMatrix which allow secondary grouping of notes by parameters other than project folder (see Profile Preferences). This functionality simplifies adding pertinent tags to notes such as person, client number, matter number, invoicing status, and so forth.

7) Added color options for drawers and folders.

8) Added the option to set frequency of opening tips splash screen which is where REXwireless broadcasts new notices (see Profile Preferences).

9) Added ability to hide folders and drawers.

10) Enhanced the length of drawer and folder names from 20 characters to 40 characters.

11) Added respect carriage return line feed option (see Profile Preferences) which changes the appearance of the 2-line summary view when inside a folder.

12) Complete overhaul of the counts logic.

13) Added the ability to set a template note per folder.

14) Added the ability to copy entire folder to another drawer, allowing the user to use one project as a model for another.

15) Added the ability to copy a note to another folder.

16) Added adjustments for BlackBerry 4.3.x OS support.

17) Included substantial changes to REXdesktop to support the new user definable dimensions within IdeaMatrix.

18) Implemented changes to support up to 10,000 notes (previous releases had some limitations at 2,500) - this limit can be expanded again if necessary but keeping a limit is helpful for efficient memory usage and allocation.

19) Included bug fixes to the delete function.

20) E-mail a note / E-mail folder of notes function enhanced by launching the native e-mail edit screen. Function now allows e-mailing from any profile configured on the BlackBerry and multiple destinations.

21) Adjust "Changes Made" dialog to match the rest of the BlackBerry.

22) Space bar hot key is re-tasked to [page down] on folder cabinet view instead of expand collapse.

23) This version now allows creation of note from any view by invoking select target folder screen.

24) Successful selection is now required on alert pop-up - escape no longer supported.

I'm on BIS and it seems to work for me.

There seems to be new stuff in the Profile/Preferences screen. Something called 'Show User Dimension Fields'. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks

[Edit: never mind. Posted before I saw MrKyoo's response]

Go read some of the ToDoMatrix material. It added to ToDo in the last update and there's some explanation in the ToDo forum.

We didn't yet post a version for 4.0 or 4.1 devices, only 4.2 and above. We also haven't updated the docs either. That would be the reasons behind "quiet" - we wanted to let it go due to some needed updates for 4.3 OS but didn't want to have folks on 4.0 and 4.1 saying "where's our version?" right away. Of course, with you guys on BlackBerryForums, nothing is quiet for long

The BlackBerry OS 4.0-4.1 version and doc updates are coming soon.

With this new version, did you remove the ability to open/close a Drawer with the space button? In the previous version that was how I quickly open/closed them. Now the process is a bit more tedious or am I just missing a simpler way.

We improved the trackball left/right for expand collapse so that you can be on any folder within a drawer and scroll left to close it. We also left the X hotkey intact for people with trackwheel BlackBerry devices.

Because the trackball left/right works so well, we retasked the spacebar back to a more consistent "page down" function, as that was its role deeper in the application.

Lastly, please note that we also added expand all / collapse all when the cursor is on the ALL cabinet icon.

Cheers,

Thanks rexguys, I had a feeling that I was missing simpler way. Using the left/right of the trackball is much more efficient and less stress on the thumb than using the space button.

ASAPx2!

We anticipate a new "4.2" version of ToDoMatrix very soon with the fixes for 4.3 OS plus a half dozen enhancements as well (we run the same version on 4.2 - 4.5 OS). It is well into QA.

A 4.0-4.1 ToDoMatrix and a 4.0-4.1 IdeaMatrix matching the functionality of the 4.2 versions will arrive a few days after.

Cheers!

Just another plug for the support these guys provide.

I lost my IdeaMatrix data through some flaky behavior (and incomplete backup planning on my part).

One quick e-mail to support describing my silliness and the last good backup I/they had was restored, post haste - no headaches, no fuss, no muss.

Yet another great experience with this fantastic outfit.

[edit] I should clarify that the data loss was in no way a function of upgrading to the new version of IdeaMatrix. It was a function of odd network backup behavior, followed by an OS upgrade before fixing those issues. I've had no problems with the RexWireless upgrade path. [/edit]

Any chance of getting a desktop version of ideamatrix that runs outside the browser? The Blackberry version is written in Java, so you have a codebase to work from.

Default 4.3 compatible ToDoMatrix is available for download to 4.2 and above BlackBerrys - 04-04-2008, 01:47 PM

The 4.3 compatible ToDoMatrix is now posted on http://REXwireless.com/downloads - using the BlackBerry browser to download direct is usually best. If you have checked there recently with your browser, you may want to clear browser cache first, as sometimes the BlackBerry thinks it found the old version due to caching.

Release notes are found under REXwireless: BlackBerry Software Support Center

Upgrade procedure is always here:

I am able to download the 3-5-2008 version of TodoMatrix... but IdeaMatrix still shows the 3-1-2008 version. I cleared all my cache/cookies and did a battery pull.

I noticed a problem with my application of dimensions in IdeaMatrix not showing in desktop this afternoon. Sent a messge to the Rex guys. They went right to work and even talked to me on the phone to figure it out. They had to fix something in the BB software and the desktop client. There's a new version (2008.03.06.42) for download.

These guys are the best I've ever dealt with for support. Can't say enough good things about them.

Default Brief on IdeaMatrix Dimensions - 04-15-2008, 04:28 PM

Please upgrade to the newest version (2008.03.06.xx). There are a few important communications fixes since 2008.03.01.xx

One of the key capabilities that we added to IdeaMatrix this year is user definable dimensions. We believe the flexibility this functionality offers is tremendous, but it is a bit hard to visualize at first pass because it is so free-form.

To help people see what dimensions can do, we have written a short brief on the topic:
http://REXwireless.com/dimensions

Cheers!
