I have a third party application called Top Producer which is an internet based real estate program that requires direct TCP connection and Bell mobility has recently stopped allowing access to the TCP ports for non-enterprise servers...
in order to synchronize my BB with my online based program I need that access... any ideas?
i do not have BES I dont know anything about it, short of that... and dont know that it is readily available for me as I am an independant contractor....

any suggestions would be helpful... and oh yeah... I am not tech savy if you want to start talking about re-programming my BB...

I doubt that I will be of much help, but my suspicion is that you need to get in touch with the company that makes Top Producer. If they either have the option, or can add the option, of connecting via BIS as opposed to requiring a direct TCP connection, then you may be able to make the sync. I suspect that the company that makes Top Producer may have more of an incentive to make the changes, because I would guess that it is fairly rare for real estate agents to have BES installed. Ask nice and they may add it or at least start working on it.

Another alternative is to shift to a wireless provider company that will allow direct TCP connection. This would require that you pay the termination fees to get out of the current contract. Major pain in the butt, but if the program is that valuable to you it might make business sense to do so.

I have the same problem, I talked to Top Producer tech support and they say Bell needs to allow Direct TCP. So I try talking to Bell Mobility tech support and all they say is they don't support Top Producer and the guy didn't even know what Direct TCP is. He mentioned something about an upgrade coming soon but then he went to check it out and I was put on hold while he talked to somebody, then came back and stuck to the official "We don't support it".

Top Producer says talk to Bell,
Bell says talk to Top Producer.

Bottom line: Don't buy a blackberry from Bell Mobility if you intend to use Top Producer. And for people like you and me, its too late for us, but all others beware.
