Default Viigo - data usage - 04-08-2008, 03:56 PM

Just getting into the whole RSS reader thing here. In Canada data plans tend to be a bit pricey and you have to watch your usage. My question is about the amount of MB usage I can expect Viigo to eat up on a daily or weekly basis and if anyone has tips on how I can keep it to a minimum.

I think it would depend on how many subscriptions you have, and how often it updates.

I would recommend only opening it when you need it (maybe once or twice a day for updating). If you do leave it open on the BB then setting the update interval to a longer period of time so it doesn't update often, or set the Automatic Update to No.

I agree with jeremy in that it is probably impossible for anyone to give you a good answer. On the plus side, it might be more economical than if you were to open each site for which you are monitoring in Viigo, if many of your feeds only give you leading paragraph and you only fully download a portion of the total articles.

If I were in your spot, I'd start small. Also, there's an app posted here on BBF - called minimoni, I think - that could help you monitor your data useage more closely, if you haven't found it already.

I generally people to upload sparingly because of the battery but this is a different issue.
