Default Question for Grid Magic (CE) users ... - 04-11-2008, 02:09 PM

I have a quick question for anybody that uses the Grid Magic Community Edition (free edition) ...

... does it allow you to open, edit and save spreadsheets to and from the SD memory card?

I don't want to have the spreadsheets taking up precious internal memory, and so the answer to this question is critical to my decision on whether or not to bother trying out this program.

It does NOT allow SD Card use. I believe they mention possibly in the future. You know, I am not sure that I have ever tried using Media Manager's explore function to find the excel sheet I had on the card to see what would happen - I've since erased it. I sent my excel sheet as an email attachment. Frankly, I miss my hp200 lx which had Lotus 123 and ran macros making data entry much easier.

That's a shame. Thanks for responding.

That would be a killer little app to have on the device, I cut my spreadsheeting teeth on Lotus123 billions and billions (thanks Carl Sagan) of years ago...

Oh, I still have my hp200lx. I "retired" it in January when I got the BB8830. But in certain particulars, I will always miss it. Of course, it was NOT a phone. But it had full Dos 5.x, along with lots of stuff. I had a spreadsheet for my exercise - hikes, bike rides, x-country ski - I could use the macro to search for and find a trip and move it to the top and total by type of activity. I had some others, too. What I've tried doing with GridMagic is moving the "table" to the top, copy the trip (distance, elevation gain, etc), and then insert it into the excel spreadsheet. But it is more tedious and not quite user friendly.

But the 200lx was amazing in what a range of dos programs (including automap) would run on it.
