I have loved B411 in the past, used it a lot, but the last few months it has just been performing up to par. But I still like it's plugin functions for dictionary, flights, etc. That said, several times recently I havev had to use Live Search to find something when Beyond411 would not... so... I still have both for now. I really lilke LS, but I also have TeleNav and have begun to use it.

If you had to flip a coin now, I would almost say keep Live Search.

I use beyond 411 with no problems

Haven't used live search and if JS gives it a positive response I am gonna have to try it out

I also had used Beyond411, Phil did a great job with the software. But since Google Maps came out, my use of B411 has dropped off.

WLS is nice for some things, movie times as an example. Google Maps is still better. As an example, I was looking for Ben Bensen's steak house. WLS couldn't find it, partially because I spelled it wrong, and gave me a list of other restaurants in my area. Google Maps bring up a box "did you mean ben benson's", I click yes and it takes me right there. Even the corrected spelling WLS didn't show it.

My location on the windows live maps is off by at least a half mile. On BB maps and Google maps it's spot on. I've tried this in several locations. I guess Windows Live isn't interpreting the internal GPS signal correctly.

I noticed this also...

Did you also notice you cannot put in a complete address and have it give you directions? It will drop the address and keep just the street and city... The streets in this city run the length and width of the city to include suburbs so that really sucks to be that general.

I found WLS to have better traffic information than google. I also like the search for movies and certain predefined categories. I find google maps to be better overall. It is faster and the gps using the cell is really nice. GM is better at finding places, for example if I put in Ben Bensen it asks if I meant Ben Bensons and finds the correct restaurant. Overall I find what I'm looking for faster and easier in GM.

I appreciate that WLS has the weather. Unfortunately, the data wasn't accurate. I guess its a work in process.

i found WLS GPS to be more accurate than google on my 8310. google always shows me off by about a city block.
411 was the app to go too but now with the updated WLS that is all i have been using.

You're right about the add on's JS' they are nice. My only problem with Live Search though is that the voice app for me is light-years off cue. It rarely gets what I input vocally right (about 5% right).

forgot to mention - wls also needs to fix the speed at which "lookup contacts" operates - veryyyy slow!

And "insert to contacts" also takes longer than expected.

Google Maps was working great on my Pearl, but when I moved to 8830, I found either "unable to locate," or located within 5000 meters. Same location on Pearl was within 10 meters. Is there a setting I need to change?

Windows Live search is very fast. However, I too have noticed that the GPS on Live Search is off by about a half a mile as well? If you bring up BB Maps, the GPS is right on.

Have others noticed this as well?

Agreed. I started out using Beyond411 when I first got my BB and switched to Live Search. I find Live easier to read, faster, and generally just more user-friendly. I had actually deleted Beyond411, but added it back for the white pages. If Live ever adds that function, I will delete 411 for good.
