THANK YOU! Coming from a Treo that did this natively, it had become quite an annoyance to not have this capability on my Curve.

You just made my Curve that much better.

Default an add on? - 06-24-2008, 10:39 AM

would it be possible to add to the BBlight an option to turn off the keyboard lights? I'm a former treo 650 user and I had an application that'd turn the keyboard lights on and off when i enabled/disabled it... would love to find an application like this for the blackberry curve so the blackberry doesnt decide when is the right time to turn on the keyboard lights (80% of the time, i dont even need it!)

I might be wrong, but doesn't the backlight also light up the keyboard?
If that is the case, then what your asking for won't work.

yes, at the moment the backlight lights up both the screen and the keyboard. it is possible to write a program to turn off the keyboard. after all, if the BB deems the light conditions to be good, it turns off the keyboard light (the auto dim feature) so it would be possible to tweak it to keep the keyboard backlight OFF. I dont write programs so i cant do this myself but am hoping that someone would know how

Any chance of including an option to leave the backlight on with specific applications?

I'm using this BBlight custom version on a 8330, and it doesn't seem to be working. If my backlight is off and I get an SMS, I hear the tone and the light turns to red, but the backlight does not come on. I definitely have 'Turn On: Receive SMS' checked, and even tried checking 'Receive message' just in case.

Also, is there a way to keep the backlight on, but have it go off when I put the phone in standby mode and STAY OFF? From my experiences with BBlight, it seems that you can only set it to stay on all the time, which makes it also turn back on after I put the phone into standby. I would like it to stay off until I receive an SMS/PhoneCall/MMS or until I manually hit the top button and turn the phone back on myself.

Is this possible? I couldn't figure out how to do it using the new or old versions of BBlight.

With the WM devices, you simply set backlight timeout to disabled, then you can turn the backlight on and off at will. There's got to be an equivalent for Blackberries, right?

There is not an app that makes the backlight behave that way.

I had made a thread for this request but got no response.

How hard would it be to make BBlight automatically activate and deactivate at certain times. Basically I'm looking to have it be active from 9 am until 7 pm. I always keep it plugged in during the day and like the light on, but at night when it's plugged in I would like it to go off as usual. This seems like it could also be good for the SMS and email notifications also.
