| problems with facebook app, can anybody help.... Please Login to Remove! Hiya guys after unsuccessfully trying to install the facebook app via the browser on my 8120 (looked like it was failing due to it requiring active x plug-in) I successfully installed it by connecting the BB to my pc and installing the app like that. All seemed grand app in my applications on BB etc. I tried uploading a picture and writing on a friends wall. However in the 'feed' section of the app (the main page) both actions now have a red cross by the side of them and neither action seems to have been successful. Any help would be much appreciated | | Offline

| Wow. No idea, but I'd say your best bet is uninstalling it, taking out your battery, then reinstalling and taking out the battery again. Otherwise, no idea. | | Offline

| I personally found the Facebook app to be a useless piece of crap ................ I just go to the mobile site via BB Browser.

| I agree with JaguarXJ7. Apparently 1 million people (downloads) can be wrong.
My issue with it is that it's a push-only tool in most cases. You can update your status, you can send a message, you can wall, you can post pics... but you can't receive messages, view pictures, etc...
So you can publish all your greatness, but you have no way to find out if your friends are being more cool than you until you can get back to a PC or go use the mobile site.

| withnail69, are you getting status updates from others? Can you retrieve your friends list? In other words, is any part of the app working? | | Offline

I primarily use Facebook for messaging my friends (not on their wall, but instead through the Inbox), and the Facebook app doesn't have the ability to enter the Inbox so you can read responses. And the status updates on Facebook don't tell you when you get new mail, so I don't even know if anyone has messaged me.
I think I'm using the (nearly) latest version, I downloaded it off RIM's site about two weeks ago. | | Offline

I get messages all the time, view pics, see my friends status updates. The only things I really can't do are view apps which is good for me b/c they're annoying as all hell anyway!

| Well there are some issues here, aren't there.
I have noticed a couple of things.
I went out and got the facebook app as soon as it was announced, and everything was fine. It asked me for my info etc. I am able to do everything but some certain apps don't work correctly. My co-worker got a new BB and the facebook app came with the latest OS version, but it never asked for his info and he has many of the issues posted above.
So it would seem as though the integrated version doesn't work quite the same as the one I downloaded. Also it looks like they have updated the version that you can go get and it has some of these bugs in it as well.
I'm sorry I can't help anyone out here with this info, but maybe some of you with some programming knowledge can fix things, or maybe someone has a copy of the original app (I think I just loaded it OTA when it came out, so I don't have a copy) | | Offline

To get any incoming notifications, you have to turn on those notifications in Facebook and have your primary notification e-mail address be your Blackberry's E-mail address.
Once you do that, the Facebook app picks up the notification messages (there's an option in the settings to have it auto-delete these for you too, after their message hook has processed it). When you do this, you'll see incoming messages (including their full text), etc. | | Offline

I've got my Facebook notification address directed to a different account than the one I have on my BB. Since I really don't want my BB inbox to be flooded with all the Facebook updates I get (to save data costs), I guess my Facebook app will always be neutered.
Yet... the app is able to retrieve Status updates, so it does have some ability to poll for changes, so why not other elements too? | | Offline

My problem is not the size of my BB inbox, it's the cellular data cost of delivering all the Facebook messages to the BB so that the Facebook app can grab them. | | Offline
