Default Adding Agendus to my PC: will it affect my BB function?

Please Login to Remove!

I have learned in these forums that there are not yet any good, robust PIM programs for Blackberry. I have also learned about Agendus, which appears to be a good add-on to desktop Microsoft Outlook. If I add Agendus to my PC, will it affect how my BlackBerry works? Is there a downside to adding Agendus?

The Agendus feature I need is one on which templates can be created for future events which recur frequently but randomly (e.g. not every-other-week, every-third day, etc). I used such a system, to include colors and icons for various appointments, when I was in the Palm world.

I understand that Agendus for Blackberry is in development, but I would rather not wait until July to add it.

Thanks!

Agendus for Windows apparently adds functionality to Outlook, not to synced BBs or PDAs. As long as Agendus for Win does not alter the Outlook database, which is what you sync with/to, I think you are safe.

You can always write iambic and ask; I am not sure where the data (if any) for the added functionality is stored.

You were right: I downloaded the Agendus trial, made a bunch of entries, and there is no change in the BB.

Now if I could get even a tenth of the functionality out of Tasks on the BB that I had in the Palm world...

Agendus for BB is on the way. See the post by another BB Forums member:

Glad I could be of help, rjb89. If you do not mind, please advise your experiences and opinion re Agendus for Windows. After reading, I am really curious about it.

johnfromphilly, though not wanting to admit it I am, indeed, holding my breath for a high-caliber PIM for my BB. I do miss their functionality after putting to rest my Pocket PC.

Agendus for Windows (AFW) should not affect your BB, except in one key way: Agendus puts "tags" into the notes field of your calendar entries, tasks, memo pad entries, and address book entries. These are used to keep track of Agendus attributes (like fonts, non-standard alarms, non-standard repeats) that are not natively supported by Outlook.

Which means that all of your BB PIM items will now have notes with cryptic data in them.

It also means that if you use a Agendus-only feature, things could go out of sync. For example, Agendus treats certain types of repeats differently than the BB. For example, redo vs. repeat tasks.

Stay away from any Agendus-specific functionality that directly affects an item, such as repeats, and you'll be fine.

As someone said, Agendus for Blackberry is expected some time later this year. No conclusive word on what it will include.

Be aware, too, that Iambic software has a mixed history with respect to quality. If you are using a .3 or later version of something, you'll likely be OK. Before that, expect bugs. Some rather significant and potentially data corrupting.

I was an Agendus Palm and Windows users for a while. When went to the Blackberry, I stopped using both. It wasn't worth using AFW without the corresponding mobile version.
