I was excited to hear Skype releasing clients for major phones, was really disappointed to see there still no version for the Blackberry. I've downloaded the skype client on my SE K810i and its really great.

How long do you guys think before Skype makes one for the Blackberry?

well to be honest... who knows? all I can say is that over a week ago I changed to windows mobile 6, and its 3g, and I installed skype. I love it. it works really well. if it does come out for 3g berries or for bb's with wifi you'll love it. I installed a gprs monitoring application and a conversation can easily eat up 20 mega glad I have the unlimited plan! hehe.

There are a couple of options out there - iSkoot is in beta, it uses your phone connection to pass through calls to skype. Yes, it does use minutes, but it's a lot cheaper calling internationally than through your cell plan, and it solves the call quality on an edge connection problem.

Shape Services has a skype client too. I've never used it personally.

If you're looking to save on international calls, Packet8, a VOIP provider like Vonage has a blackberry client that intercepts when you dial international calls and passes them through your home phone account on Packet8 . Calls to canada, for example is free. The only reason I looked for a skype bb client are for the international calls, as I may be cancelling the home phone Packet8 account.
