Should I update the application icon to the current condition when updated?
Should I also add the ability to have the application run in the background and automatically update the forecast data and application icon if done?
Thanks for everyones feed back. If there are any other suggestions/ideas/requests, please let me know.

Jason,
Update via a shortcut key or key combo would be a nice addition. Thanks for putting this out there. I'm not jonesing quite as much since I've installed it...

Another alternative to BB weather if you're in the US is the Fox News service. If you go to http://wap.foxnews.proteus.com// and input your zip code, the site remembers it from visit to visit. If you also scroll to the bottom of the home page, there's a download link that puts a Fox News icon on your BB desktop. The report is for several days ahead.
Desktop weather in 2 clicks.

I already have the FoxNews link app on my homescreen. It does give me my home weather. Still need something quick for travelling to multiple cities. Lets hope someone here can do the trick for us!

It looks like the font for the setup at the top is the "system" font. The font for the actual weather is my selected font.

Weather eye does not seem to cover the amount of location as bbweather and does not have much weather for most of Colorado....

Weathereye only pulls from this list of cities:
US Cities Index - Weather Forecast - The Weather Network
i'm sure most people can agree, if weathereye had more cities, this would be the app of choice.

The only people who can't use it are those trying to incorporate it in to a commercial work, like say....oh, I don't know....PocketDay.
We're not setting any precedents here. Do a quick search and you'll find hundreds of free applications already using the Yahoo Weather API. You'll find desktop applications, mobile applications, web applications, the list goes on and on.

"Fine" is a relative thing, I guess. I've been reading the thread with much dismay. I loved the ability to pull 10 day forecasts with BBWeather for planning purposes. I read that Yahoo provides 1 day, and that's certainly not "fine" in my opinion. With Yahoo giving 1 day of forecast and Google 3 days, I wonder if there's any good source out there for the kind of in-depth weather and forecasts up to 10 days out that BBWeather has provided us all.

To be frank, it is fairly obvious from the context of what I was saying that I'm talking about the Yahoo Weather API being "fine" from a licensing/use point of view.

Well, I haven't loaded the Blackberry SDK tools yet but I glanced back over the BBWeather source code...Looks like good news...
BBWeather talked to weather.com through this url:
http://xoap.weather.com/weather/loca...unit=s&dayf=10
which returns an error in a standard web browser.
But...if you take out most of the parameters (prod=xoap&par=1006814500&key=ee4ffa68f8bf99cd) and use
http://xoap.weather.com/weather/loca...unit=s&dayf=10
then you get back a forecast for 10 days in XML format.
If it turns out to be as simple as that, then all that needs to be done is to remove those extra parameters from the source code and recompile.
Update 1...
And on further inspection, it looks like only "prod=xoap" needs to be removed from the url.

You will be the BBF hero!!! Is it possible to add a Weather ID lookup feature or some way of choosing a city? BBToday has this weather ID lookup. Could that same code be pulled from BBToday and written into BBWeather? Would be really nice if BBWeather had that feature.

Awesome news! Thanks for looking at this.
Hey mods, if tateu gets all of us BBWeather addicts hooked up again, I would suggest that a new designation be created - 'BlackBerry Hero' - for people who go above & beyond what membership here entails, and tateu is made the first hero. I know it's very subjective, as opposed to the # of posts, but might be warranted...

While we are mucking about with the code, it might not be a bad idea to make the URLs editable under options. Could throw in variables for the zip and number of days and whatever else would need to be in there. Just so we don't have to recompile for a URL change in the future. I could assist if needed. I am not set up to compile any more, but I wouldn't mind messing with the code.

I have a working, fixed version. The app runs fine in the Blackberry simulator but I discovered that you need to get keys from RIM in order to sign the app. I have ordered the keys and will post a signed, working app as soon as the keys arrive.

Perfect Storm - Ah I see there is weather on there too. Sure, once I get the keys and confirm this will all work, I'll fix up the BBToday code. I'm sure it's the same.
And once that's all done, I will look at what tateu did in his version and try and put everything together. I may also consider taking over the Blackberry Tools project and update the app to use a more open data source, among other fixes.

v.75 was done at my request. All it did was order the citys by alpha and used Alt-spacebar as a shortcut for updates which of course I love.
There is also the funky install issue from the FAQ's.

It turns out that my signing key is still valid.
Here is a quick fix:
OTA only, for the moment, I haven't packaged up the desktop version. I will get that up later today.
http://www.tateu.net/software/bb.php?f=BBWeather
This version also contains one other personal change that I made, which I can roll back if no one likes it...When scrolling through the Forecast, Only the days of the week are selectable, you can no longer select and copy any of the other temperature data.
I will work on some of the other suggested changes, maybe over the weekend.

Whoooo Hooooooooooo. Thanks so much.
With the scrolling my date is ending up at the bottom and the weather from the day before is showing. With a font of 11 you can't see the day before. With a font of 10 you can barely see the date from the day before. So while its a nice change, it's functionality may be limited.

Wow! That's great news! :D
One question, however, can you find and fix bug that hard-locks blackberry if anything is done without a profile? That's one BAD bug...

tateu,
Thanks a million! The only thing I might suggest is to see if there is a way to prevent any horizontal scroll. On an 8830 on the Current Conditions screen, I have to scroll down then back up to see the full details on the right. Maybe the 'clouds, rain, etc' text can be dropped to display below the temp (might prevent the need to scroll either direction?) Either way, great job & thanks!

Give this a try - if you click in on the nav ball you will get a menu. After I got my 8820, and loaded BBWeather for the first time, I too thought it was locking.

I had UNinstalled bbweather this morning. I just used the ota link but I am getting an "invalid parameter" type error after using Seattle zipcode and/or that other ID for airport. (I also uninstalled BBtoday).
