Taetu, way to go! Thanks for helping us out. It's good to see average users (I would assume you aren't part of a larger entity) contributing to software development.
I hope we see the number of BB software creators from the community developing free apps grow. My biggest complaint about blackberrys (and I REALLY have to dig to find a complaint) is that you just don't see the freeware you do with windows mobile (but, windows mobile also blows... a lot... so..).
Can't we all just think of the children/poor college students!?!? haha

Wow, somewhat new BB user here (8830) and was seeking a better weather page than the Accu-weather thing that BB offered.

This seriously rocks!!! Thank you very much. Excellent work!

Default BBweather resolution doesn't fit my 8130 - 05-13-2008, 04:11 PM

I did a forum search and checked blackberryfaqs and did not find an answer to the only gripe I have with BBweather.
The information provided by this application does not fit in my 8130 screen. My BB's resolution is 240x260. I don't know if this app was written for 320x240, but much of the horizontal information gets cut off.
To the far right, all I see is:

UV Index:
Wind:
Humidity:

... etc because for me to see the actual values I would need to scroll to the right. This is very tedious because it also gets in the way of scrolling up and down when looking at the forecast.

Is there a way for me to make it all fit horizontally so I would only need to scroll up/down?

Thanks for any input.

Default Take a bow, Tateu! - 05-13-2008, 06:14 PM

Tateu, another thanks from a long time BBWeather user! You are a true BlackBerry Genius! I was using some web-based accu-weather alt, but it didn't have the detail, even if it did have the nice icon that reflected current conditions. There used to be an app way back when that would get you to the text of NWS statements and alerts, which I liked a lot.

OTA only, for the moment, I haven't packaged up the desktop version. I will get that up later today.

http://www.tateu.net/software/bb.php?f=BBWeather

This version also contains one other personal change that I made, which I can roll back if no one likes it...When scrolling through the Forecast, Only the days of the week are selectable, you can no longer select and copy any of the other temperature data.

I will work on some of the other suggested changes, maybe over the weekend.
Can you post the desktop version please.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

There is a desktop version posted in the original sticky thread regarding bbweather, bbtoday, bblight, bbcorrector and bbreply. I have updated the first post of that thread with new info.

I'm lost without BBWeather on my 8700. It mysteriously stopped working on May 6. I get the dreaded "Error: Bad or missing query parameters in request" (my locations all use ZIP Codes). I tried disabling the MDS proxy to no avail. I was thrilled to come accross this thread, but when I try to download tateu's new version, I get "Download Failed 907 Invalid COD." Any pointers to get me up and running again?

Tried again and it downloaded fine. Asked a couple of questions about replacing exiting files, asked to reboot and did that. BBWeather is BACK!!! Thanks so much, Tateu!

As to the download failed error, no clue why I was getting that, but in the immortal words, of Ms. Emily Latella, "Never mind."

Tateu- Thank you very much for the fix.

Any possibility of getting the "shortcut/icon" to update and show temp and graphic condition like weathereye does when left on home screen? It would be amazing if we could have BBWeather on the home screen with the update of current or most recent selected location, then click on it to view details and forecast.

Is this possible and Im missing it or is this a fantasy?

Right now I have weathereye on the home screen and BBWeather in my apps to go look up forecasts and multiple cities. Would love to consolidate!

Thanks!

If you're on a BES make sure the "Disable MDS Proxy" box is unchecked.

If you're not on a BES (not a work device) then check the "Disable MDS Proxy" box and then go to Options >Advanced Options >TCP and enter the proper apn for your carrier.

For TMobile it's:
apn:wap.voicestream.com
username
password

leave username and password blank.

Centennial won't allow access to the TCP settings. They are fully aware of the issues with it's users not having access to them and thus far have done nothing about it. I am told they are working on gettin it implemented but so it hasn't materialized.

Well, that's 2 apps I've wanted to use and can't. Centennial seems to have many issues. I had an HTC 621 prior to the Curve and couln't send or receive MMS due to Centennial's short-comings.

Yes I know, I was lucky for a long time as I had TCP access with them because my account never got disabled from access a year ago when I canceled my standard PDA plan. Unfortunately I upgraded my plan a month or so ago and it got disabled when I did so. I have 8 applications that I can not use now. Yes it is very frustrating and I personally have thought about jumping to another provider, however in my heart I know there's noone that can touch their plans. I'd be crazy to give up free incoming calls and 5 pm N&W. I'll post any updates I get on the TCP access situation. In the mean time keep the BB Weather link or app, as it is an awesome application and it is very sorely missed by me.

Thanks again to Tateu for saving this wonderful program and for those of you who are able to use it, I'm very envious.

Happy Berrying!

I installed .77 and at first I was receiving DNS errors. After a hard reset, it went back to doing what .76 was... invalid parameter. On BIS MDS proxy disabled. Any help?

First of all thank you very much for getting BB Weather to work again, it too was one of my favorite apps. And I do agree with the above post as that would make BB Weather awesome. But I am just very happy the BB weather is fixed.

Question:

Each time I hook up my 8830 to Desktop Manager (DM), and go to Application Loader, I get a REMOVAL for BBweather prompts. I finally just noticed that I have two entries for BBWeather. One has sub-mods showing. The other is just the one BBWeather.

The one for removal shows:

BBWeather
BBWeatherIcons
BBUtils

The other just:

BBWeather

(on the same note, also each time I run App Loader, I see Trekbuddy UPDATE even though nothing has changed)

What/where are these prompts coming from or generated by???
