Thumbs up PocketDay 2.5X Weather Update Problem Fixed

Poor Mark. I've had this guy all over the map. At first I was using the WAP version of PD when it wasn't really required, then, after installing the "normal" PRO version, I keep coming up with the weirdest Weather updating problems.

All the feeds worked, RSS, Stocks, the BB browser. Everthing was fine. The Weather however would not display correctly. I'd get the word Null where the temp would normally be and none of the icons would appear. Frustrating as all get out considering I was playing with Comm settings, APN setting, and so on.

Well, as some of us have come to appreciate, Mark IS THE MAN. He stuck with me, never uttered a discouraging word, and just kept peeling back the onion. He finally came up with an approach that yielded the answer and BAM .... problem fixed.

What appeared to be happening was that the request for a particular location would go out to weather.com but the BB was rendering a ... corrupt, if you will URL then what weather.com was actually sending back. Weird, as Mark put it.

What Mark had me do was:

"Go to the BlackBerry home screen then options then tcp. Set the apn to 'proxy'

Go back to PocketDay Comm settings, change the internet connection to direct and uncheck wap. Then blank out the rest of the settings and let's see what happens."

What happened was that it worked.

Can you imagine if all Software authors embraced end-user support the way this man does? Gives me chills.

Thank you Mark.

Btw, mine was a 7100g (on Cingular/ATT) w/o BES.
