A good eBook reader - I don't like mobipocket.

I would like a WMV player. I want to view Windows Media Video without the need to download and convert on my PC and then upload back to my Blackberry.

I would love to be able to access actual youtube videos without using tinytube or a similar site, so that I can actually track my subscriptions, etc.

Anything else I wished I could do with my BlackBerry seems to have been addressed by google mobile applications. But then, I'm not a very sophisticated user, I guess.

I'd also love to see application lock and a PDF reader... maybe a quieter camera or disabled as well.

I would like a software that makes it so i don't have to enter the unlock code every 30 minutes. This is triggered by my companies BES and is meant to protect the data from a lost bb. instead this causes me to have to input an 8 character code every 30 minutes. Its more of a hazard than emailing while I drive.

As a BES admin...this is there for your company's security. To create and app that defeats security is reckless. If you have a beef with it talk to your BES admin...I personally have a timeout of an hour to be nice. You could try buying them some dounuts :D

I understand that the ifone has an app that tells users how to circumvent the recorded call routing systems for major corporationsin order to get a live operator. Would be a big time saver for those if us on limited-minute plans.

There has got to be something like this somewheres...type in J2ME and recipes on google for a start.

I would like a program that would let you add a empty custom (icon) folder to your Theme. Such and a Games folder, Accessories/Tools folder ect...
Sample folders are ok, but with current OS there are no extra choices.

I just want an easier way of enabling and disabling GPS on my 8130. Do I really have to go to Options > Advanced Options > GPS > click OK on the location warning > Location On > Save just to turn my GPS on and off? I only want it on when I need it, as it eats up battery unnecessarily when I don't need it.
Ideally I think it should have been integrated in the "Manage Connections" menu. Bluetooth is there, so why isn't GPS?

i would love a 'sleep mode' option to make the media player stop playing after a certain period of time. much like how the sleep mode on a television works.

Software that has the ability to manage (transfer & install files to and from) /Device/Memory/home/user/documents/ and other device directories w/o the need to install Media Manager bloatware.

Perhaps this exists and I haven't found it yet. A miniature macro programming language that would let you define a series of key presses for launching or using a program.

I'd like to see a program to keep the clock and time zone updated. When I travel it's annoying that I have to change the time zone manually. It should be able to figure this out from either GPS or cell tower info.

For quite some time I've been looking for a way to "inject r keystrokes" every 570 seconds to refresh real-time data on a browser page and keep me logged on to a timed-out website. More specifically, one of my broker's mobile websites requires two passwords (one generated from a hardware security dongle) and two login attempts before I can get in to the website (the first attempt usually fails due to a supposed Blackberry WAP incompatibility issue my broker won't fix). Then, they auto-expire the session after very close to 10 minutes of inactivity thereby causing me to have to scroll to and reenter 6 login fields (2 of them requiring a discrete hardware dongle). I would like a way to implement first a "$ keystroke injection", wait 50 milliseconds, then inject a "r keystroke" at 570 second intervals? The corporation I work for didn't approve monthly BES server fees for me, so the BES keystroke injection policy limitation is not a problem in my case. Just a manual on/off controlled 570 second time period between keystroke injections would suffice for my purposes (I confirmed 570 seconds works several times), it may be more general purpose (including in weak signal areas) if the time interval could be user specified (in seconds). The first "$" keystroke would be to reactivate the screen/keyboard (could be any benign key) and the second "r" keystroke is to actually refresh the browser page (at least for the default Blackberry browser on a Verizon 8703e). Hence, if the backlight was on presently (due to being within the backlight time-out period setting or a BBLight override) , then just the "r" keystroke would be desired/required in that state (don't need to inject the "$" to activate the screen). Also, if it were possible, the "$/r" keystroke injections would only occur when the Blackberry browser was currently the active application (the Opera Mini browser keyboard short-cut to manually refresh is Ctrl-r or F5, but it can be customized to make it just "r".). Two back-to-back keystroke injections as described above, regardless of the current application, would be the next best alternative (as far as I can see). The application should be designed to handle the above specific case, but obviously would be able to customize to any similar general requirement. Good day.

The biggest problem with RIMs current browser (including in 4.5 firmware) is their dreadful cache management. I can reliably and significantly improve the perceived browser experience by manually deleting the cache (not cookies) as soon as it gets to > a few 100KB's

It's odd. RIM go to great lengths on memory management - yet this bit is just awful

Really? Then why do users here say it is a good idea to pull the battery (reboot) every couple of weeks to resolve memory leak issues? IMHO, the OS does a poor job at memory management.

But, it gets my blood pressure up when I see "it is good to pull the battery every couple of weeks." That may be a good workaround but it shouldn't have to happen.

I'd love to see something that would manage wifi - if I just leave it enabled all the time, I feel like it's wasting battery, but I do move between locations where it connects via wifi. Perhaps something that would turn it on every 7-10 minutes, check for known networks, then turn it back off if it didn't find any.

I would like to see something that would allow me to set multiple programs up to cycle using a convienence key. So I could cycle from my PIM to Messages to Media to options just by continuing to hit the side key. The programs would need to be user selectable. Great for driving.

Options > Screen/Keyboard. Set your side convenience key to Application Switcher.

There is a recovery application called FindIT by Convenience Software that has this feature, and it works great (you can also have it call you, email you, or scream "this phone is stolen".

I want the BB to switch sound profiles (vibrate, quiet, loud) based on my work schedule and home hours. Simple really after 8pm vibrate only. In the office quiet. Maybe even M-F options.

This ain't rocket science. Is anyone at BB reading this?

There are programs that already do this. Toysoft Profiler is one of them.

What I would like to have is:
1) A calendar where you can categorize appointments, i.e. business, personal, etc.
2) A profile switcher/scheduler that looks at the appointment and category and automatically chooses a certain profile during that appointment, i.e. for business appointments, the profile is set to quiet. For personal appointments, the profile is left at normal.

AFAIK, the current profile schedulers need to be set manually for each appointment.

Unfortunately none of the profile switchers work when the BB is locked. And as for ToySoft....well.....no thanks, I won't even load one of their apps.
