Thumbs up RIM Execs Pick Their Favorite 3rd Party BlackBerry Apps - 05-21-2008, 12:22 PM

Howdy folks,

Research In Motion execs, including CEO Mike Lazaridis, offer up their favorite third party downloads for BlackBerry in this article.

Perhaps the most interesting thing in the story is that the CEO uses a third party media player. What does that say about the BlackBerry media player??

Check it out.

Default Google Maps v. BlackBerry Maps.... - 05-21-2008, 05:53 PM

The execs also all recommend Google Maps, but don't mention BlackBerry Maps at all. Interesting...

I noticed that and thought that was rather funny. But we all know that articles are always taken out of context so you really dont know what they really said.

True, though I still think it's interesting that the BlackBerry-maker's CEO would tout the FlipSide music player...

So why is Garmin Mobile a one-time $99 charge for internal GPS, but an annual subscription for no internal GPS? The second offer includes a puck, which I already have. It shouldn't matter to the SW whether I'm using an internal GPS or a puck - it should be transparent to the software...

Not sure, but I'm willing to bet Garmin just hasn't updated that section of its website. That is where you got this information, correct? The Garmin offer for $99 GPS for the lifetime of your BlackBerry is new, so I think they just haven't updated those words yet.

I agree it makes no sense that the company would charge a yearly fee for devices without internal GPS and only a one-time fee to users with GPS built-in...
