Default Rove's File Manager & iDisk - 05-24-2008, 02:04 PM

I cannot connect to my Apple iDisk using Rove's File Manager application. I was able to do this on a palm. There isn't usually an error given. It just isn't able to make the connection, and times out. I can't access the public folder either. Has anyone been able to use File Manager to access their iDisk?

PM me the details of a public folder you're using and I'll surely give it a shot; I don't know anything about iDisk but I'll see what happens on my end, see if I can help.

I don't think this is an issue of my Blackberry or service provider, but rather settings I've entered, or a bug in the application. Thanks for the offer to try yourself rivvipop, but despite the name of the directory, my public folder isn't actually "public". I was hoping someone else has experience using it with their iDisk. Again, thanks for the offer.

I have been able to connect to iDisk with Mobile File Manger, but that was over a year ago with a trial account that has long since expired.

I do have a few details that may help though when connecting to an account (say bob) I created a new WebDAV connection in Mobile File Manager and set the URL to http://idisk.mac.com/bob and used the login bob and the appropriate password.

If that does not help please check what connection method you are using - You can check this by selecting Settings from the menu and then Application Settings. If you are using TCP/IP you may wish to try BIS instead. Using TCP/IP often requires some extra setup that may not have been done on your handheld yet.

If that still has not helped I encourage you to please contact Rove Technical Support at [email address] and send them a description of what is happening and the debug log from Mobile File Manager.

To get the debug log, please try to connect first and then after you get the error and click on OK you can type an exclamation point ! to bring up the debug log. You can then select Copy Log from the menu and paste it into your e-mail.

I've tried the settings you mentioned, but may try again. I'll also write Rove back. I'd explained the problem to them, and they asked me to send the bug report, as you suggested, but there really doesn't appear to be a bug to report. Usually the session times out due to an unsuccessful connection. I'll see if there's anything to send them in a report after this happens. I was hoping it was simply an incorrect or incomplete preference setting, and not a bug.
