Thanks (and welcome to the BBForums!).

Looks very interesting. Does this application override the routine OS-provided homescreen shortcuts, such as A to open the Address Book, B to open the Browser, M to go the Messages folder, etc.?

Are any of the shortcuts (not the side convenience key) configurable to any third party applications I desire?

No it does not override the homescreen shortcuts, it is a seperate application.
You assign it to your side-key and through this you can quickly launch apps, webpages, calls, sms, emails...! Very handy.

Is it OS 4.5 compatible, I noticed a few apps are already publishing their comptability with OS 4.5 Empower just released a new version yesterday I believe, if the developer can confirm this I'm buying instantly

Is this an update to the existing Launchpad or a new program entirely? If one has your other launchpad, is this a free update?

Wouldn't this method actually require 2 clicks instead of 1?

One click to launch the app via convenience key and another click for either of the pre defined shortcuts?

Yes. I can confirm that LaunchPads will work with OS 4.5 as I am also running 4.5!

It works on OS 4.5!
Maybe you have to edit/set the permissions to "Allow" again in: Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> LaunchPads -> Menubutton.

Is there a way to remap the shortcut keys? This works fine on my 8830, but when I suggested my buddy use it on his Pearl (since RIM decided to rid the Pearl of keypad shortcuts that are available on the QWERTY devices, I thought this would be perfect for him), unfortunately, no-go, as the Pearl has A and S, and B and N, mapped to the same keys.

Bummer for him! If you could remap the S and N keys in your next version, I'm pretty sure you would make many a Pearl user happy!

Has anyone tried to assign buttons to either FreeRange or BBSmart Alarms Pro? When I did nothing happens.

Is it possible to assign a launchpad to either "lock" or "enter standby mode"? What program modules would they be??

Thx to all for the great advice!

Another program that does nothing when assigned to a key is TrafficEye. Funny because WeatherEye works great.

Never mind... I'm throwing out this program and the $6 I paid for it and just bought BBSmart's Shortcuts. Way better program for only a buck or so more.

LaunchPads has just been updated to Version 1.7:

-> The new version (1.7) includes the following:
# 'New SMS' function added
# Drop Down Menu for Action-Field
# Font size and style can be set
# Buttons arranged in lines by two
# New PIN Messages can be created
# BlackBerry Bold Support
# Help file included in application

Please deinstall the old version before you install the new v1.7!

On some devices you have to set the permissions for the application to ‘Allow’:

Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> MenuButton -> Modules ->
Type in LaunchPads -> Select the application -> MenuButton -> Edit Permissions -> Set all permissions to ‘Allow’.
Then reboot your device and the application will work.

Can I run the trial for this and BB Smart Shortcuts at same time? The PIN messaging is a good selling pt.

It seems that there is no free trial for Launchpads.

I shelled out the $6 for this program. Lets see how good it is.
