Thumbs up Five Free Open Source BlackBerry Downloads - 06-02-2008, 08:47 AM

Hello all,

I thought I'd share this article on open source BlackBerry downloads. It contains five apps, all of which can be downloaded for free, and the source code for each of them is available on the developers' sites.

I've seen some of them, like BlackBerryTools, mentioned on BlackBerryForums.com, but I'd never heard of the majority of them, like a cool password keeper and a GPS-based app that can track users' latitude and longitude coordinates and record recently travelling paths.

Check it out.

Thanks for the info. I happen to notice that you post quite a bit about cio.com. Do you work for them? Not that I mind, since it's nice to have these articles. But it'd be nice to know why most of your posts appear to be pointers to this particular web site.

FYI: The BlackberryTools apps (BBToday, BBWeather, etc.) are all old versions that no longer work. Check out our Aftermarket Software forum for up to date versions of these apps.

Six.

LogicMail for BlackBerry
http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail

"LogicMail is a J2ME E-Mail client supporting IMAP and POP, and designed to run on RIM BlackBerry handheld devices. Its goal is to provide an alternative to the service-oriented "push" E-Mail system that the device normally provides, so we can also use our conventional E-Mail services."

My Blackberry is personal, I use LogicMail to on-demand check into my work email over IMAP/SSL rather than have it all pushed to my device. Been using if for some time, it works quite well.
