Default Weatherbug wants PERMISSION when I enabled Firewall - 06-12-2008, 12:44 AM

I was using one or two applications that wanted PERMISSION with each load of something so I read that enabling the Firewall would stop the incessant request for permission. That worked, now MGMaps does not ask for permission for each of 100's of files it loads when using it offline.

So now Weatherbug pops up a Permission each time I turn on my 8830. I looked at its Permissions and expanded them and all show ALLOW.

You can't win for losing or is it you can't lose for winning!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

(edited to add: Hmmm, I see in some Permissions 3 choices but maybe it's my imagination - I see Allow, Deny and ALLOW (where this one is BOLD, while the other is NOT bold) Are those different "allows?")

I was in the same boat you are in, I enabled my firewall but WeatherBug Direct would throw an error message. Seems to be something inside the program because I set the WeatherBug Permission to Allow everything and it is still blocked.

The Allows in Bold are ones that you have set to allow, I beleive they are in Bold because they are not the default settings they have been modifed.

For the first time I feel the future might hold something different for me. It's possible I'm fooling myself but I'm willing to take the risk.

The error box indicates it is an IT policy but this is a personal device under BIS and not bes. Clearly, there are some quirks in these permission settings.

Disable Firewall and some programs throw a fit.

Enable Firewall and other programs throw a fit.
