Thanks for the feedback fkjr2.

Regarding some of your points:

Poynt already does 3, but without the movie rating (number of stars). This is still a good idea though. You can read reviews and look at synopsis, cast and runtime information.

Stay tuned for #2.

You can already do #4, which is adding a listing to your address book or emailing it to a friend.

And here's a feature that no one has commented on yet but I'd like to point out:

You can email your friend information about the movie theatre and movie, plus a link to buy a ticket online. To do this, you merely need to look up a movie and a theatre playing it (or vice versa) then click on the listing with the showtimes and select "Email to Friend".

This "Email to Friend" feature is also available for yellow pages listings.

I won't comment on #1 yet, but it's definitely something to consider.

Unfortunately we don't have any data for Hong Kong yet. When we get that data I will be sure to notify you funkym. Thank you for trying the app.

#1 = no comment Maybe that means yes?? We need white pages !! LOL

how about SMS option along with emailing search results?
This IS the age of Text right?

Overall, a nice app - thanks

How about this - adding app to menu under addressbook so we can inject address "show in poynt" and then the app would open to location or search page. Superpages and Google does this now.

Hi fkjr2,
Excellent idea! I added the ability to SMS your friends. It will be in the next build along with many other new features. I will announce when it is available.

ETA? How about now?

Sorry that I haven't been posting guys, we've been super busy over here adding a couple new features, scrubbing the bugs, and making the application more reliable. Expect the automatic updates to take effect sometime next week. For now, you still have to go to:

m.mypoynt.com to grab it.

We have a new version:

0.8.3
- added favorites
- added full integration with address book (search from a contact with poynt)
- add a listing to the address book
- manage your favorite locations
- clear your search history (in options and settings)
- manually change connection type (in options and settings)
- bug fixes

tbhuang2, soon you won't have to check the page. Our automatic update system will notify users when there are updates, even in the versions that are currently released.

Changes in 0.8.5 are all bug fixes.

Hi folks,

There is a new version of Poynt available. We have our automatic update system in place so current Poynt users should see the update message when they load Poynt.

*NOTE* There is a bug in all versions less than 0.8.6 where clicking 'Yes' on the update notification will sometimes cause the app to quit instead of loading the browser to the download page. This has been fixed in the latest version. If you can't get the browser to load, you can go here: m.mypoynt.com

Here are some of the new features:

- Ability to save a favourite theatre so you don't have to search first for theatres to get a list of movies.

- Moved the new search location up the list in the recent tab so you don't have to scroll down to enter a new search location.

- Various bug fixes

- Improvements to connections and enhanced support for direct tcp connections.

No new mapping application yet, but rest assured, we are working hard towards a solution. Thanks to everyone for providing us with feedback so far. It has been very valuable. We take every piece of feedback seriously.

I love this app, just for the Movie listings alone. Live Search and Google Maps don't even list the major movie theater near my house, and its the nicest/largest one in the area.

I have to agree...
  1. Weather
  2. White Pages (Residential)
  3. Google Maps Integration
  4. Reverse Directory Lookup

... are the few pieces missing from this app that would make it my app of choice.

I tried to update from witin the program and it did not work. I then tried to go to my browser and my phone locked up. After a battery pull my browser worked again but when I go to the website to get the new version I am still being offered 0.8.5.

bbbforums, you may have to refresh your browser on the download page where you see version 0.8.5. It will refresh to 0.8.6

The program closing problem is a known issue, and is fixed in 0.8.6

Just figured that by quoting you, you'd look at it!

I just opened mypoynt and it indicated a new version was available and did I want to upgrade. First, with the blue and green, I could not tell which was highlighted. In any event, neither option appeared to work for get the upgraded version. I succumbed to using the Browser.

Just thought you might want to know....

Thanks for your feedback FF2. For reference, green means highlighted. The problem of the application closing when 'Yes' is clicked is fixed in 0.8.6. Now updates will work as expected.

Hi folks, there is a new version of Poynt out: Beta 0.9.1. Since some of our very first users were from this forum, we will give you the exclusive before we push the automatic update. For now you can get it here: m.mypoynt.com

New Feature: Support for Google Maps Mobile.

Many of our users asked for this feature, and we'd hate to disappoint. Poynt currently supports mapping one listing at a time with Google Maps Mobile. Support for mapping multiple listings at a time is coming soon.

To access this feature, you must have Google Maps Mobile installed on your phone. Once installed, open Poynt and select Options & Settings by pressing the blackberry menu key. You will notice there is a new option called Map Display. You can switch between the supported mapping options.

Other changes include a number of bug fixes, which our feedback users will be notified about.

Thanks for the update. It offered me 0.9.1 this time without having to refresh. Very happy about Google support. Only installed BBmaps because of poynt and now it is already deleted along with berry411 and live.

Yes, I am clicking Save. I return to Options and Settings, and it's back to BlackBerry Maps. I tried to change the font size, too, but it would not save either.

OK, I think that I have figured out the issue. Toggling through settings within Options and Settings using the SPACE key does NOT work (even though the new setting is shown before attempting to save). One must click on the current setting, scroll up/down to the desired setting, and click to select the new setting -- in this case, I see the "Alert: Settings saved." dialogue (which I did not when attempting to save settings after using the SPACE key to change settings). By clicking, selecting the new setting, and saving settings, I am able to configure Poynt to use Google Maps. Hope this helps to clear up the confusion.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I was actually unaware that the space key could be used to toggle through the items (duh) so yes this will certainly be fixed in the next release. Enjoy!

Hi everyone,

We've had a few reports from T-Mobile users about connection difficulties. If you experience any issues you can do the following to help us get a fix to you as soon as possible:

Open Poynt and do some searches. If you get a communication error follow these steps:

Click the menu key and select About Poynt.

Click the Debug Console button.

Press 't' to highlight the Email Output button.

Email us your debug dump. There is no personal information sent (you can review the contents of the email).

Thanks again everyone!

Bold support is coming VERY soon. We want to ensure the best possible experience to all our users. I will post here once it's released, and we will be contacting everyone who has asked about the bold through our feedback system once it goes live.
