Once this is installed on the BB, does it use any data?

IMPORTANT! The app won’t work if you dial “+” before the country code. The call will go through but you will be charged by your regular carrier! You have to dial “011″ before the country code. I told them I didn’t want to edit my 500 overseas contacts; they said they will try to fix this.

How did you confirm that the calls were going through the MyGlobalTalk service and not through your carrier? Once the program is installed, do you just dial the number like you would dial any other phone number?

It didn't work for me. It needs to have "Keystroke Injection" enabled, and this is blocked by the IT Policy on my blackberry.

Confirming that the app is actually working is a big gray area right now. It is one thing that needs improvement.

I am curious about calling Canada. I just signed up and will try it but I don't call anyone in other countries. Does it use the service even though it is a 1+ number dialing?

Agree. However I went ahead and tested it. If it works, it dials the 347 area code number they gave you and then it sends the international number in groups of 3 numbers until it has sent the whole number. I called a few numbers, and the calls went through but no one was available to answer.

if configured properly you should be able to dial from your address book. when you make a LD distance if you see the pop up "Connecting via MyGlobalTalk" then the app is working. Note that there is a glitch in the app in that it does not recognize countries where you have to dial a "1" first. To get around that you have to enable "Use for US Long Distance Calls" before making those types of calls. This way you don't have to reconfigure numbers in your address book.

Took me about 3 tries at CS before someone was able to give me the right answer.

The program was working ok on an 8300 and then just stopped catching international calls. After rebooting the phone it started working again. Reported the issue but they didn't want any info and just suggested the reboot which I was doing while I called.

How do you know when it is working ok? Is there a pop-up text or verbal message before the call connects?

A little window will pop up saying MyGlobalTalk and then it will start dialing your DID and then dial the international number with pauses.
