Default Free Keyboard Shortcut to Compose SMS - 07-02-2008, 11:02 PM

Quoting the article:
QSMS - Free Keyboard Shortcut To Compose SMS | BerryReview

Quote:
I know quite a few people who have asked me if there was a keyboard shortcut to send an SMS message. Just like you can hit ‘C’ to compose an email.

BerryCoder once again comes to the rescue with QSMS. If you install this application you can use the ‘Q’ shortcut to compose an SMS!

The best part is that it is free!!!

You can pick it up OTA by going to berrycoder.com from your BlackBerry.

I don't know why not... it takes you to your address book to select an entry for the SMS... I have a curve, so I can't say for sure.

It seems to be just a shortcut to the SMS app but I'll take it. It saves me 2 clicks.

I don't need it, I just thought my daughter might like it if it worked on the Pearl too.

It doesn't work using the QW key on SureType devices as there is no option to disable Home Screen Dialing. It does work if you click on the icon that the application creates, which is handy.

You can try to use the convinience key, just assign the app to convinience key if you don't use it for something else.

finally! thanks - now if only someone can figure out how to set the blackberry to always default to using mobile cell number fpr sms and not giving us non mobile number choices. I never understood this maybe negative on BB's part.

this QSMS file seems to be a .jad file, how do I load when Application Loader seems to only recognise .cod files?

For some reason my "compose" shortcut, the letter "C" from the home screen only does sms messages now. I didn't install any of the apps to custmize convenience keys and my old BBerry didn't do this (8800)--it defaulted to email when I pressed "C" from the home screen. Now my Bold is defaulting to sms with the "C"key and I'd like to know how to change it back to email. Any thoughts?

Awesome application. Would be even better with something like a SMS speed dial that I could assign some of my most common SMS contacts to a key that would directly open a blank SMS addressed to them.
