New to BBForums. Cool Software i found -
07-03-2008, 08:03 AM
I'm visiting over from xda-developers' forums. I have an HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt) and my girlfriend has an Alltel BB Pearl 8130. Both are great devices. Anyway, i stumbled across a cool piece of software for Windows mobile and RIM devices. It's called Privus Mobile, and it delivers calling name for numbers that are not in your contacts list. I installed the trial on my Tilt and it works perfectly. Albeit, on RIM devices and non-3g windows mobile ones, it delivers the name after the call has ended. Still not a dealbreaker to me, my girlfriend seems to like it and generally doesn't answer unknown calls anyway so it serves the purpose. Anyway, it's worth a look. Post what you think of it. By the way, i'm not a spammer, i've been lurking here for a while now. Since i need at least 10 posts to put links in my threads, head over to:

to post links, view pictures, or post pictures. I'll get there by lunchtime today i'm sure. I've got a handful of questions regarding the 8130 on Alltel. I'll be in that forum for a while.
me: AT&T Tilt (free work phone!), but a Bold will be in my hand when it's released.
g/f: Alltel Pearl 8130 (why i'm registered here)

It had been so until the Great Server Crash of March 08, and has now been reinstated. It help hold down on spammers posting links and embedding phishing in some posts (which has happened a lot recently). Likewise, just the normal porn spammers, etc., are hampered in their need to spread their wares.

Always a good thing. I was hesitant that I would be flamed for posting a thread about our app here like most forums do, but so far I feel good about this place.

One of the other guys here posts as bimmerd00d, he mentioned the forum to me and i figured i'd create a login here for Privus related threads. I asked him to delete his thread to use this one but it won't let him. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem. Keeping an active thread here about your product is NOT spamming, at all.

So if I understand the Privus service correctly (specifically for BlackBerrys), I will receive the Caller ID information after ending the call? I figure this is a limitation of the no Data Tx while there is an active call.
If this is updated for the Bold, then I will gladly check the software out then, but really doubt I will pay an extra $10 / month for enhanced caller ID.
