Any plans on making xPlayer work correctly on Verizon 8330 Curve? Wont play video, even video taken from the blackberry camera.

Why doesn't video work with your product on the Verizon Curve 8330?

I just tried what you mentioned 3 times with no success, I'm still getting that same message.

Is it possible that it's not compatible with the Bold?

I just tried the software briefly. I like it. I put up the Jazz station. Any chance of making this player play Real Player feeds and Windows media player feeds?

I'm having the same beta period ended message. Removed/reinstalled a couple of times, including the restarts and going back and making sure all the modules were also removed. After that, fresh install, same problem.

First, there's a New Beta Version (1.1.9) available today 7/16.

Second, I just installed the new beta version and I'm still getting the message that "The beta round is over. You may download the application now or later from www.shapeservices.com"

I really liked some of what they were doing, and having the internet radio option was great, but what do I need to do to get this thing running again? I'd rather not uninstall all Shape Services applications, I do have others installed and registered. If I have to do a full OS reinstall to upgrade between the beta versions, perhaps it's not worth the trouble to try the beta.

hmmm, I updated to the 1.1.9 and I lost my stations I put in there. I like the new lay out of the stations though. But I guess I have to start over.
I take it this software will only work with MP3 live streaming as far as live is concern?

Dear users,

We've checked on our side and renovated the beta. Sorry for inconvenience. The beta is still available. Please uninstall the version you have and download the new one.

A new version is available for you to test - v.1.1.9.
The changes are:
* Station list: a priority is set to stations with a low bitrate
* Work on OS 4.3 devices improved
* Some other connection improvements

You can update at xPlayer :: BlackBerry :: Products or at wap.shapeservices.com

Thanks and regards.

It is really unnecessary to uninstall all applications or to do an OS reinstallation. (btw, if you do uninstall our applications, they can be registered with the same licenses, so it's absolutely safe).
We have activated beta testing, so please reinstall xPlayer only.

Thank you in advance.

The saved stations were lost because of the reinstallation of the beta. We expect when the version will be released, stations will remain even after the upgrade.

It doesn't seem to be working very well for me, either. Playing regular mp3's from my media card seems to work fine, but internet radio doesn't work. I've tried both BIS and Direct TCP, neither of which will actually play. Both of them get past the "preparing" stage and then come up with just a generic "player error" afterwards. Data works otherwise and I have no trouble with other data applications, just xPlayer. I'm running the latest 1.1.9 beta.

I installed the xPlayer beta yesterday on my phone. I've got an 8320 with OS 4.5 on it. Streaming works great! It's fantastic to finally be able to listen to Internet radio.

I've got two questions:
1. Does the software support aac streams?
2. How come the software stops streaming as soon as my phone auto-locks? Is that by design or a bug?

Any way to get Finetune to work with this? Be a perfect compliment, that and I already have playlists there.

I found that using Direct TCP and 200kb work the best. 500kb is second best. Also, depending on the load that is on a particular cell tower will depend how long there is silence when it reconnects and buffers. Around my home area I get no silence periods but when in my car and I drive away from the cell tower in my home area I potentially get silence periods of 1 or 2 mins every now and then. 64kbps feeds come in pretty well most of the time. I found that you need to be stationary with a good Cell tower feed to get a 128kbps but sometimes it has enough buffer to recover fairly quickly. I have a feeling that to get video feeds when RTSP and MMS protocols are supported (Real Player and Windows media player feeds) that we going to need a buffering of 1000kb or more. In my speed tests I seen Edge do just over 300kbps so that would give me some decent bandwidth to get some video as well.

Can someone tell me where you get the URLs that you have to enter when creating a radio station? I can't find them anywhere.

Jayman, You just have to search out MP3 Radio stations on the Internet. Apparently, other formats may be forthcoming once the bugs are worked I guess.

Shape, I see how when you enter live MP3 web addresses your player does not like directories. Example http://address:port/name your player will not play but in most cases it plays http://address:port/ and I guess it can only be MP3. In other cases I had to get the precise address to put in the player after I played it on my PC with Real Player I got the info from there to put in your software. Some how I feel that shouldn't be like that.

Shape,

Do you have any advice on what we should be doing to make it think the beta period has *not* expired? So far I've removed via both Options/Applications/Delete and via the App Loader on my PC; I've also installed both OTA and via the App Loader. The most recent App Loader attempts were with a freshly downloaded .zip from this afternoon.

Clearly I'm missing something. Any clues as to what?

Dear friends,

I’m glad to inform you about the new version of xPlayer, 1.1.10.

In this version we’ve implemented a new stream media engine which allows listening to Internet radio. We need your feedback about the way it works.

Since we want you to have the best experience with Internet radio in xPlayer we have prepared a list of some useful recommendations.

- Radio pauses during playback are attributed to carrier download speed. To help you we have created a list with low bit rate radio stations that play without pauses on low carrier speeds.
- In case of frequent reconnects you may try changing the data connection type. In application settings go to Radio -> Data connection type. We recommend using Direct TCP. If you choose this option make sure your TCP is configured properly. (Options -> Advanced -> TCP)
- Some BlackBerry OS do not have the appropriate settings to playback stream audio. We recommend that you update your BlackBerry OS to 4.3.x or 4.5.x
- Long pauses during playback are caused by the radio station buffering process. If you want to eliminate this issue select the lower buffer size setting in application settings -> Radio -> Buffer size
- If you want to add a radio station to your list you need to provide a direct HTTP link. Find the station you want to add, save the PLS file to your desktop and open it. The first URL in the file will be the URL you need to add to the radio station list. This is the format for the radio station: http://stationort/stream

Some other improvements in the current release include:

-Radio stations’ editing
-Optimized list of files opening
-ESC action setting

As far as we received feedbacks, this version works with Verizon. Please test it and see how it works for you.

We want to hear your feedback!

Please specify the issue. Do you receive an incoming call and xPlayer stops or your screen turns black, your keaboard locks and then xPlayer stops?
