Default REX alertmatrix help.

Hi,

Is there any way I can set REX alertmatrix to not alert me between certain times ie overnight? If so, how?

Many thanks

Rob.

Not at this time. I think I saw somewhere that this will come later, but for now you can change to the "Night mode" manually through the "Set Alert Mode" menu.

Take a look at the same question I asked on their website, they try to answer my question but it doesn't seem to make sense to me. Note, the question was asked in a forum question with a different topic, so read the whole thing.

Sure, there are multiple ways.

First, you can simply do a "Delay All" and then decide which priority alerts fire or do not fire overnight. By using this method, your View Pending will continue to collect messages that can be reviewed in the morning.

A second alternative is to have your rules configured to not collect when in Night Mode. Then, when heading to bed, change Alertmatrix to Night Mode and the rules will not match until you return AlertMatrix to Normal Mode in the morning.

A third alternative is to not use AlertMatrix overrides and have the alerts follow BlackBerry Profiles. Then you can set BlackBerry Profiles to OFF or Phone Only overnight, allow the program to collect the alerts but not disturb your sleep.

The final way is to modify Night Mode by unchecking the alert methods (Audio, Vibrate, LED). Even if your rules match, the uncheck methods will override the settings in the Alert profile. I personally use this method to only fire off the LED when at the movies.

Most people tend to use method one, because it is very easy to have critical alerts still fire AND to collect overnight items of interest for morning review. But we offer a lot of flexibility in hopes of meeting most people's needs.

Thanks,

However, there is currently not a way to setup AlertMatrix so that you can configure a night mode setting to automatically not be bothered everyday between lets say between 9:00 PM to 7:00 am - correct? If not, it would be neat to have this feature in a future.

Thanks,

Tony

Sounds like Option 3 or 4 would do that.

Personally, I use the Blackberry Profile Scheduler to switch my profiles automatically at night (and throughout the day as needed), and then have AlertMatrix follow the profile settings.

At night, when the BB is silent, so are AlertMatrix's alerts.

I manage mine that way too. I was just saying having the option to designate an automatic quiet time would be great for those who don't manage their profiles the same way we do. I think it would be a great new feature.

REXwireless support says that this feature is "on the way".

I hope they give the option to either use it or not use it as some people may opt out of using it.
