Are there any plans to have a tv remote built into the blackberry.. that would be soo cool

not likely, the RF is very specific on the device, and with no IR port it wouldnt work that way either.

I had this on my Windows Mobile device for about a week. It was fun but thats about it. The range of IR on a phone is also very short.

Nice. It will be available in stores in October. Not exactly what I was thinking but it works. universal remotes hardly need any hardware... i dont see why this hasn't been built in yet

Wow, that's awesome. Here's a n00b question but are all blackberries equipped with rf or is there an add-on that you'll need to buy? It didn't look like that bb in the video had anything but the software...

I believe it is connecting through it through a built in access point and doing it all over IP. Which is why your would need that box

Comments from a rep after the Crackberry article say it connects to the IR box via bluetooth.

Would be cool to have this. I have it on my palm. It's fun to go to a bar and start turning off the TVs.

Anyone else ever have one of those tv remote watches... I loved being a pest in elm and jr high with those...good times
