Smiley8:
Downloaded it this morning. Nice app but would be even nicer if ...during the process of associating a picture with a contact.... thumbnails appeared instead of (only) picture names. Would make the association process a LOT faster.

thanks

that means your security is not enabled for pictureID.
goto the options app and select pictureID and set the permissions.

ok. I checked everywhere under preferences. There is no option to turn ON or off thumbnails. The version I installed -trial- shows ONLY the picture names.

thanks

There is a new version available....Has this version fixed the bug where if there are spaces in the phone numbers in the address book it only displays the numbers following the spaces?

Thank you Mr. Clark. I installed the new version 1.0.9 (ota only) and it has addressed the thumbnail preference. The number/address display bug you describe above has not been corrected. If the contact's number is in your address book as follows;
123 456 7890, or as 123-456-7890; Full Screen PIC ID shows it as 12345467890.
That said.... I like this software.

For some reason I'm getting only a 4 digit number (the last 4 of my phone number) and with the latest, when the call came in I couldn't exit the app. It stayed on pic ID and I had to pull the battery to get it to stop vibrating.

The only thing I can think of is that I have my home number under "Home" and then again under my contact for myself in the "home" field.

This app just isn't reliable enough for me yet. We'll see what future versions bring.

pictureID will take the phone number and strip out none digits. eg: spaces, dashes, period.

that is how it works.

Gotcha. Thanks.I am struggling now with how long my pics take to load. I don't have an extraordinarily large number of pix on my SD card but it takes a long time to load each page of pictures. When I do an alt/tab (escape) it doesn't "load" in the background. Kind of painful...and I have matched only 5 contacts/pics thus far. Though I like this software I will wait for future versions before I consider purchasing.

when the new beta comes out it will cache all the thumbnails so that the next time it will load quickly when you access the pictures. i have over 200+ pics taken from the camera and it takes a few seconds to scan the files the first time and then the thumbnail appears without delay after that.

Do you have to purchase the Beta edition?
I downloaded 1.0.91 and everytime it boots up it asks me to register.

It seems to squash all photos I use. What is the best size/resolution to be using for photos for PictureID?

the native size for your BB screen... my Curve it's 320 x 240. Not sure what it is for the Pearl (240 x 240?)

I was able to download and install it just fine. I don't know if it's because I have a lot of pictures or what, but when I click "select picture," my phone locks up for quite a while before it brings me to my list of pictures. Then, when the list comes up, it's so slow to scroll through them that it's almost unusable.

Also, I already have pictures assigned to a lot of my contacts. Is there any way to automatically import these settings into PictureID or do I have to go through and add them one by one?

that is the problem. i have tones of pictures taken from the camera and it does take awhile to scan the files. The media app seems to do the same almost.

the best way to add pictures is move the pictures that you want to a new folder or copy them from your desktop computer.

there is no picture import because the picture that you already have in the contacts are 1/4 of the size and it wouldnt make much sense for the full screen.

Default v1.2 released. - 08-18-2008, 01:59 PM

here is the latest pictureID 1.2.

changes
---------

- fixed the problem with 2 calls. if you had close missed call screen then sometimes both calls will terminate if you end the call. this happens only when you dial a person and then you received a 2nd call

- added ringtone support. edit the picid and scroll down to the bottom to pick the ringtone. you will need to do the following for each contact that you want to assign a ringtone

- run the Contacts app
- edit the contact and select Add custom ringtone
- set the contact ringtone to MUTE. this is needed so that the system wont play the contacts ringtone and let picID handle it
- you should select a long ringtone since PicID does not repeat the ringtone. personally i use a mp3

why add ringtone support? because i hate the 2 seconds wait before the ringtone starts. very annoying.

here is the OTA install http://www.toysoft.ca/bb/PictureID.jad

When will you offer Bold (and for those who are getting the Storm) support with the full screen caller id?
