Question TodoMatrix to Google Calendar

Please Login to Remove!

Friends,

In need of some assistance. I have searched on this but just want to get some ideas from you all...

I currently use TodoMatrix and IdeaMatrix for tasks and notes on the personal side, and my side business and work I use the native databases. For some time I have been in RexWireless' ear about calendaring in TodoMatrix (even though that is not what it is originally for) because I wanted to have all of my personal and work stuff together in TodoMatrix. But this is not the case and I have two different systems going (TMX and the native calendar/tasks). I have been looking into syncing the BB with the Google Calendar as I have a gmail account and I wanted to see any shortcomings with using GoogleCalendar. My thought is if I use GoogleCalendar to sync my personal calendar, my side business calendar and my work stuff to the native databases on the BB, that I could essentially have everything together.

Could you all chime in with your current experiences with the Google Calendar and BB so I can determine if this is a path that I want to go down and if it would be right for my needs at this time. Thanks all!

DBB

I've been using the Google Calendar sync with a google hosted account. I pretty much just use it to view calendar events on my desktop and use the BB to add/delete. I haven't had any problems. The is also a google group dedicated to the sync program.

Recently there was a thread about it having problems with recurring events so you may want to check that out. I also read were events get screwed up if you stop or delete the sync. A couple of days ago google announced it was going to add syncML for contacts, not sure if anything changes for calendar. I'm hoping if MS Mesh will be an even better way to sync.

Michael,

I looked into RTM (Remember The Milk via MilkSync) and GoogleCalendar via GoogleSync for Mobile (Blackberry) (RTM has a add-in that you can add into Google Calendar which works awesome) and then from there I installed the desktop Google Desktop Sync to sync my work calendar 1-way for now from work to my GoogleCalendar (so I can keep my personal stuff out of my work calendar). After three days, the setup is working very flawless.

All I need now is to find a way to sync notes and eventually GMail will do contact with SyncML, so I should be well taken care of. If you know of anything that can OTA sync notes that would be a big help, cause thats all I have left to plug back into my Curve. Thanks for your input again and anyone else, please chime in!

DBB

EDIT: I mulled hosted exchange and hosted Kerio (exchange knock off), but too pricey for me, so I think I will stick with 3rd party and take my chances.
