Default Minuet Browser? - 08-23-2005, 05:35 AM

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has tried this browser yet, which is available from Handango, other sites report it works on the BlackBerry, I am a bit reluctant to try it as I'm not sure if it will work since I dont have the wap service book (although reqwireless used to when I tried the trial, I just put the apn etc in settings).

You can download and try the demo version for 10 days, no strings attached! The demo is a full version except that all new bookmarks will be cleared when you exit. We do encourage you to try out and verify all the features on your device before you buy.

Thank you for your interests in Minuet!

I did it via application loader, personally I couldn't get it to work, but I think thats to do with a missing service book not the software.

Here are the instructions for installing Minuet with a Windows PC. I will be attaching this to the distribution files shortly.

Minuet is distributed as a zip file; please download it to your desktop computer. Double-click on the newly-downloaded file and select Extract to extract the program files. Then use the RIM Desktop Manager Application Loader to synchronize the program files over to your device.

On Windows PC:
1. Start the RIM Desktop Manager that was provided with your
BlackBerry device.
2. Choose the Application Loader icon.
3. Click Add and browse to the location of the program files
(this is probably your desktop).
4. Select the .alx file and click Open. (If you encounter the
error message "No additional applications designed for your
handheld were found", please update your desktop sofware)
5. Choose Next then Finish to initiate the loading process.
6. Locate and launch the application on your BlackBerry device.

Please note that Minuet requires BES and Blackberry Software 4.0. If you could install and run Minuet, but cannot access Internet sites, you should take a look at the "Mark Rejhon BlackBerry FAQ" in this forum for possible workarounds.

I've installed Minuet on my RIM (7100T), but any page I try to load says "Page Cannot Be Found"

any ideas?

I can browse the net using the built in browser, and its not WAP, its full on html.

Minuet requires MDS (which requires BES.) For non-enterprise users, there are workarounds. Please review Mark Rejhorn's FAQ http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-network/2185-blackberry-internet-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html) for workarounds specific to your service provider.

Thank you for your interests in Minuet!

I have he Minuet and get the same response. I know I have the BES service and everything needed to use the browser, although it doesn't work on my 7520 either.
I can run reqwireless but not minuet.

Hmm ... 7520 actually *does not* require BES to access the Internet. Is it possible your device could be running out of free memory? Were you able to see smaller web pages (e.g. Google)?

Another thing I would check is whether your device is running Blackberry OS 4.0. If not, you will need to upgrade your OS.

yes I'm running 4.0, and what ever the case of the BES I still can't use the browser. It just isn't worth it.
