Thanks Remy, 8320 4.5.0.53 T-Mobile USA BIS. I don't have BB Maps on the phone. I have seen 523, long time ago, I think I had downloaded the wrong version app for my phone at that time. Please advise on the other settings in Options. Thanks

I got 726. Hit "Refresh" in your browser menu before downloading.

It still have error Worker location Java.lang.illegalstate Exception: UI engine accessed without holding the event lock.
Also, it is on 24 font size like what I did before I got the error in the earlier version so I can see it. So even though I delete from Applications it remembers that some how..
Time to uninstall.

Hmmm. I can't reproduce this on any device or simulator. Can you go to the log and paste the full stack trace?

I don't think it has anything to do with the font but I'll check again. Remind me again which font you're using.

AHHHHH. I found it. BTW, you can get out of it just by pressing the escape key rapidly.

Also can you check something for me... When you have a good GPS fix, save the location, then go to the List Saved Locations screen, select the location you just saved, then open it's details. Check that the latitude and loingitude have valid entries, then try opening it in maps and see what happens.

Oh yeah, you can also stop it from happening temporarily by turning off your radio, then going back into SignalLoc and reducing the font to < 20.

Also, when I try "View on map" I get a "Launching map java.lang.IllegalArgumentException" error. I have Google Maps 2.2.2 and no BBMaps. Any tips on this?

Yeah, the KML is actually built at the time the site was captured so you have to delete and recompile the list. Sorry.

In Options do you have Google Maps selected as the mapping application? Do you have BBMaps in the list as a possible application? You shouldn't. Try making any change to options and saving and restarting.

No worries. Just glad it works now

BBMaps was not in the list of possible applications, so that checks out. All I had to do was change something, hit Save, then try again. It worked. Before, when I got the error, I tried mapping without changing any of the Options. So I guess invoking the "Save" function does the trick!

You don't really mean GPS, do you? 8320 has no GPS. Also, I always get Current Location "Not yet valid". Does it take time to "get a fix"? I get id/ch but Loc stays blank and if I look, there are no lat/long readings. What about all those other settings...

Well, with no GPS (I thought you might have had a BlueTooth unit) there's no way for the program to determine location so they're reported at 0,0. Also, you should have "Carrier provides cell site location" turned off. GSM networks don't provide it.

If you open Google Maps or BlackBerry Maps so you get a GPS fix? Are any other mapping programs open at the time? The normal behavior for the mapping programs is to stay open in the background. You have to use their menus to specifically close/exit them. If you go to Options/Advanced/GPS do you get a valid GPS fix when you take the Refresh GPS option?

I installed 726, as well, and got this same error when I made the font 25 and tried to escape out of the app. Now I can't do anything with the app at all. I rebooted and opened the app. I got this error again. No way to fix it. Can't even get to the settings.

And deleting the app and resinstalling it KEPT the settings and the same thing happens. I can no longer use this app. I can't get into it to change the settings.

I'm guessing something is saved in RMS database? I don't really want to clear that as then I lose all my logins for JiveTalk and settings for other apps.

Ok, got it back. Here's what I had to do:

1. Delete the app and then reboot the device.
2. Reinstall the app.
3. Open the app. Error pops up. Click ok and quickly go to the menu. The error will continue to pop up. In between errors (and you have to do this fast) continue going through the menus and change the font back to 20. Then, in between errors still, save the settings and exit the app.
4. When you go back into the app the error will be gone.

Yeah, there's smething bizarre going on inside the font APIs when they get to a certain size. I've got it figured out and will release a fix later today.

The problem occurrs when the background thread that monitors the radio tries to update the screen. If you just turn off the radio, you'll be able to get back in and change the font setting to something < 20 and exit. Then turn the radio back on and you should be good to go.

Looks like John's proceedure worked but I really had to fight with it to reduce the font size. I set the font size to 17 as it seem to be ok for me. Seem like that error is gone but something is going on when the font is big.
Not to rain on the existing problem but I did get another error now too. From the main screen I go to GPS details and that screen comes up fine but when I hit the back key I get this error
worker Location Java.lang.Arrayindex outofbounds Exception: 1>= 1

It'll really help me if when you get an exception you copy the relevent error log entries and paste them here. Especially the stack trace.

Actually with a fresh boot I am not getting the error now.
I see that maps are disabled. I have Google selected.

In Options do you have Google Maps set as the mapping application?

Strange it defaulted back to Blackberry maps. I reselected Google maps and your application is now going to google maps. It's good for now.

I have it automatically saving new cell sites. I believe that when it saves the sites while my phone's GPS is Off, it saves them anyway as 0,0. I also noticed that some cell towers simply don't give their coordinates (Loc: is blank) for some reason while my GPS is on and it gets saved in my list as 0,0! Can you correct this by having it check the values before saving so that the 0,0 ones don't get saved?
I also noticed that if I save a cell tower while GPS is on, it will save with coordinates as expected. If I turn off the GPS, then accidentally hit save cell site, it will overwrite the previous coordinates with 0,0!
Somehow, cell sites should not be saved if they are 0,0.

How about an option to not save cell sites that don't have a location?

Once you export your saved cell sites to *.kml, how do you open that in Google Maps?

Although Google maps will open a KML file, it has to be on a server and accessible with a http:// url.

If you transfer the file to your desktop, you can open it with Google Earth directly.

So if I uploaded the KML file to a personal website, how would I make Google Maps load that url?

Just enter the full url as a google maps search. It's smart enough to go get the file and load it.
