Default Any good apps that manage bdays and special events?

Looking for one that tracks special dates like bdays AND displays upcoming date and age of contact.

You can put the birthday with year in the contact info in outlook and it will display in your calendar. I then go in and set reminders a few days out for those I need to get something for in advanced. For the others I set the time for about 10am the day of where I send them a happy bday somehow (IM, email, call etc...)

So, what if you want to add a birthday entry for someone that is not included in your contact? Say a neice or nephew or friends child, doesn't make sense to have a contact entry for them in Outlook.

Maybe I'm too picky.
