Default connection problems with xplayer, BeFTP, and mobile file manager

I've tried both BeFTP and Rove Mobile File Manager and get (from what i can find the split pipe policy stuff) "The application X has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy" This device is mine and has never been on any BES. Is there a way around this? (other then disabling the firewall)
