Default Would this work?

I am about to switch an OS 4.5 Curve and I believe they will probably send a 4.2 OS Curve to me (warranty, broken SD slot).

If I do switch device wizard, will it update my new phone to OS 4.5? Or will it completely crash it?

I am going to guess you want 4.5 on the new device. The Switch Device Wizard should work just fine. Before using the wizard desktop manager will detect a new OS is available and ask to upgrade the BlackBerry. Once you complete that use the Switch Device Wizard.

This is assuming you are using the same Desktop Manager that you upgraded your defective phone with.
