Default VZW (VCast) Song ID... - 09-06-2008, 10:10 AM

So it looks like VZW may be porting the Song ID software over to BB devices, I'm seeing a link for it on the main page.. Hope they hurry, I kinda like it... Didn't seem like a real important app, but now that I don't have it (since I switched away from the PPC) I kinda miss it...

Anyone find anything out there that works in the same way?

Thanks,

-Corey

I don't see any indication of that on the VCast site. I don't quite understand SongID, or why you would need it. VCast isn't available on BlackBerry afaik.

VCast is not available, but VZW has been porting apps over to BB and Smartphones, VZNav and the Mobile IM are examples...

Today I noticed an ad for SongID on the homepage on my BB, which leads me to believe they may be bringing it over soon...

SongID is kind of cool.. I listen to pretty much ALL types of music, so it's almost impossible to keep track of artists, songs, etc, and when I hear a song I like, I can find lots of info about it... Guess it's a personal thing...

Thanks,

-Corey

Ok, I get what SongID is now. If you were listening to internet radio on your BB, it would come in very handy.

Not just for that. I use it on my other phones all the time in the car and at bars when I hear a song I like and want to download it later. This identifies the song and saves the artist and title of it so I can look back and download when I am home.

Wow... so it "listens" to any song in your environment, not just songs playing on your phone? I guess I didn't understand that from looking at the VZW Song Id site.

Yeah its actually a pretty cool app.. I have a similar app on my Windows Mobile phone before switching to blackberry.. I played two songs at the same time, and it actually picked one of them up... It also was able to identify a live version of a song, as the live version, not just regular, etc...

Works very well when out at bars...

I can't seem to be able to get V-cast music despite the new free vcast for BB. I think the new vcast for free is just video. So I guess this still means no SongID. Someone tell me I'm wrong!

When I go to vcast and under whats hot, it shows me a list of videos , all have a red box with ! in it , when I click on it , it tells me that this phone doesnt support playing clips.
