I've been beta testing this and I can say it's a pretty good app. I think we've gotten most of the bugs out of it. I have Profiler setup to change my profile at 10:30PM and then change it again in the morning at 7:30AM. Also, I have one setup for church so my phone doesn't ring when I've forgotten to turn it to silent. Neat app. You do need to have the ability to allow Keystroke Injection. So, if you're on a BES check to make sure you have that ability.

I know I've asked this before and I hate to be a pest but I never received an answer to last time I posted it. Is there a way to add the ability to turn off Wifi and Bluetooth based on the schedule as well too? If the app could do this as well I'd seriously consider buying it as it would help save on battery life.

I've noticed no significant battery drain when BT or wifi is on but not in use.

Do you need to unholdster the device for the profile switch to happen or will it do it automatically?

The profile cannot change if the device is holstered, locked, powered off, or if keystroke injection is set to Disallow (e.g. BES IT Policy). This limitation is imposed by RIM's API restrictions.
Profiler will notify you by vibrating that a profile change is trying to happen, and when you do unholster/unlock the BB, it will then complete the change.
At one time I even removed my sleeper magnets from my holsters so that profile scheduling applications would work for me around the clock (I don't lock my device nor am I on BES), but later I decided that I would live with unholstering after a notification.

I purchased this program for myself and my wife, we both really like it. I have it set to vibrate during work, church, and a men's group I belong to.
One question I have is does this work in Standby mode (pressing the Mute button on the Pearl)? From what I can tell, it does, but I can't really tell if it is just switching after I take it out of Standby.
I have the program AutoStandby, and if these two play nicely I'll be a happy camper!

Profiler 1.1 -
09-26-2008, 12:24 PM
I am just testing this app, but I would really like to see a profile option that says "when in meeting (based on calendar) switch to vibrate"
I would drop the $$$ to buy right away if it could do that.
thoughts?

I would too.
I also want it to be able to change the profile when the BB is locked instead of sending an alarm so I can unlock the BB so it can change the profile. (Hmm... was that a run-on sentence? )

you can create a new appointment in the Calendar app and select the Profile to use and duration. eg: from 1pm to 2pm set profile to start vibrate and Loud when end.
in the calendar app select New and then New Profile menu.

If I am correctly interpreting what pvantienen wants, he/she wants to create an "appointment" profile, i.e. change to Vibrate during the appointment and then change to Loud at the end of the appointment. The Profiler program then automatically looks at the calendar and assigns the "appointment" profile to any existing appointments or appointments made in the future.
I want this too.

I'd suggest if there is an "appointment" profile, that it be only for aptmts that aren't set to "free" time. IE. If I'm in a mtg in the ofc, I select "busy" and if I'm in an aptmt that's out of the office, and "out of the office" is selected, it should also treat it as if I'm busy in a mtg, but if I'm "free" (ie a scheduled item that doesn't tie me up) or if the aptmt is tentative, then the profile shouldn't change as if I'm in a mtg.

currently Profiler will handles one appt only and it expires the same day. so if you have a meeting today you would do this in Calendar app
1 run calendar app
2 select New from the menu
3 select New Profile from the menu
4 select the Start profile to use
5 select the End profile to use
6 select the start time and end time for the appt
7 save

This is one arena in which Windows Mobile rules. There is a meeting profile in WM that will silence everything during calendar appointments that are marked "busy". This seems to be what everyone is looking for here, not sure if it is possible with the BB OS limitations.

My dealings with Handango were not fully customer friendly. If you do not purchase their download insurance, they will not offer you minor upgrades to programs that the author makes available for free. Just my take on my transaction.

Has any consideration been given to Profiles by GPS location (proximity)? Great app the way it is, but GPS Profiles would make this one of a kind.

Hi,
I could not find in this in the guide anywhere but does anyone know what "show temp profiles" and "clear temp profiles" does? Everytime I click on them there is nothing. Am I missing something here? Using version 1.1
Thanks,
M98

This is EXACTLY what I want. I want to set a default that whenever I create a calendar that says I am "busy" automatically switch to vibrate mode, then switch back to the previous mode afterwards.

temp profiles are profiles that you have set in the Calendar app. temp profiles is only valid for the current day. eg: if you have a meeting from 1pm to 2pm then you can set an appt and set a Profile for start and end

New beta 1.1.2 -
10-08-2008, 10:58 AM
here is the latest beta version with calendar keyword support.
Basically you can put in a keyword in the subject/summary area in the calendar appt and Profiler will switch the start and end profile. do not put more than one keyword in the subject/summary area
1 in Profiler goto the app menu and select Calendar Keywords
2 add the keywords you want to use in the calendar and select the start and end profiles
3 once you have added all your keywords run the Calendar app and put in a keyword in the Subject/Summary textfield and save the appt
now when the appt goes off Profiler will set the start and end profile for this appt.
here is the OTA install www.toysoft.ca/beta/Profiler.jad

What i need is simply this. The ability to set the profile to normal when the device is charging and to vibrate when the device is not charging. That alone is worth $10 to me.
