Post Bbsmart View 2.3 - Unable to Uninstall

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'm new to blackberryforums.com so apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place.

I've recently purchased a BB Curve (8300) and have downloaded and installed (using desktop manager 4.5) BBSMART VIEW 2.3

The installation went through without any errors and I have been using the trial version now for about a week or so and now would like to uninstall the software.

The issue is, when I attempt to uninstall the application via BB desktop manager, I get the following error:-

"Warnings were encountered during the loading process"
"The following modules are required by your administrator, and cannot be removed - SMARTVIEW.cod"

I then tried to removed the software from the devices via Options >Adv Options >Applications but the software does not appear in the list!

I can confirm that the application is still installed on the BB and working!

The BB is less than 2 weeks old and does not have any other 3rd party software installed.

I have sent an e-mail to the BBSMART and as of yet no reply.

Any thoughts?

Ze7ro

Wirelessly posted

Hi and welcome to BBF.

Try going to options > advanced options > applications, hit menu key and select modules. Highlight the smartview module hit menu key and select delete. You may need to do a battery pull after this.

BTW the 8100 is the BB Pearl not a curve

Unhappy Same Problem!

Hi, I have the same problem and the delete option is not available! Is there another way to rid my curve of the BB Smart program after uninstalling? I have installed the Empower trial version but it conflicts with the residue of BB Smart.

Default Cannot Unistall app after upgrade to 4.5

I get the same error, when I try an uninstall my custom app from an 8800.

I upgraded the O/s to 4.5 (originally 4.2.1.101) and all these problems started appearing..

Dont know if its a 4.5 bug or something else....

BTW, the app does not show up in the list of applications on the device, as I deleted it there initially.

Also, I cant upgrade / reinstall the software.

My device is on a BIS service, but had an old "Default" IT policy.
I am pretty sure that the IT policy is not to blame, as I had set it up
when I had the same device activated against a trial BES server.
