Default Docs To Go/8700R/4.5.0.81 - 09-27-2008, 10:13 PM

Hello there,

While using Docs to Go, and looking at an e-mail with a .DOC file, the BlackBerry still opens the default viewing of document instead of Docs to Go.

How do I get the blackberry to recognizes Docs to Go and open Docs to Go instead of the default program.

Thanks,
--Phil

First open Word to Go, click the Menu button and select Register and register the program.

Second, go back into Word to Go, click the Menu button and select Check for Updates. Unless you've done it already, there's an upgrade to the version originally distributed with the OS that adds Sheets to Go (Excel) which is a great addition! Hopefully installing the update will fix the problem!

Also, resend your service books.

Thx Jerry, as I have not jumped into this app yet since we are still 99% on 4.2 OS on all handhelds at work. I have updated to 4.5 OS and left this app alone for some time. I just updated mine and am rebooting and will start to work with this. I am sure we will be supporting this in the near future.

EDIT:
Confirmed - Upgrade does add "Sheets to Go".
Thanks...

Okay so I did the following:
  • Registered Docs to Go
  • Upgraded to 1.002.016
  • Restarted Blackberry
  • Service Books were resent
  • Restarted Blackberry
But it's still opening up .XLS and .DOC files in the regular blackberry default program.

Anyone else able to assist or how any ideas?

Thanks,
--Phil

EDIT: 28 September 2008
I recently updated my operating system from 4.5.0.69 to 4.5.0.81

You should see an option when open an attachment to either "View" or "Edit With Documents To Go"; select the edit option. There is currently no way to set this as the default action. Maybe in a future update.

Jaguar...

Thx, as I thought the whole premise of this app was to just manage docs and xls on the memory card. I will have to read more (RTFM).

That's correct and I am not seeing that option, it just automatically downloads and opens in the default viewer.

Anyone able to shed some light on this?

Thanks,
--Phil
