Got an email from Slydial today introducing a new BETA app for BlackBerry. If you're not familiar with Slydial, it is basically a free voice messaging service that connects you directly to someone's mobile voicemail. Who should use slydial? Anyone who is short on time, wants to avoid an awkward conversation, or doesn't want to bother someone, but needs to leave them a voicemail. No matter where you are in the walk of life, be it a college coed, a working stiff, a soccer mom, or an empty nester, there will be situations in your life everyday where slydial will be helpful to you.

I've used it a few times when I was in a hurry and needed to leave someone a message, but didn't have the time to actually carry on a lengthy conversation if they were to answer their phone. More detail is available on their website (slydial dot com). Anyway, here is the information received:

BlackBerry App
Compatible with: BlackBerry Bold, Curve, Pearl, 8800 Series, 8700 Series, 7130 Series, 7100 Series, 7200 Series, 7520. To Download, from your BlackBerry web browser click on the link in the attached text file (had to remove the link since I don't have 10 posts yet).

Note: After clicking on the link, please make sure you select "yes" on the permission screen prior to downloading, otherwise the app will not work for you.

Once you download and install the BlackBerry app, you have two easy options to voice message your contacts:

1. Click on the slydial icon on your Desktop page, then select the mobile phone number you want to voice message. (You may need to select the Apps folder.)
2. From your address book, select the person you want to voice message and choose slydial from list of menu items. (You may need to select "full menu".)

The App will connect you directly to this person’s mobile voicemail.

I haven't tried it yet, but thought it may be beneficial for other users!

Thank you. I use it and YES it does come in handy when you don't want to conversate with someone. I have it as one of my contacts. I will download it to get the icon.

Sounds "interesting", but also sounds like an excellent way to harass someone. I mean, if I was stalking someone and kept dialing their number, they would likely see my caller ID, and simply not answer it. But with this, they would have to at the very least hear my voice before hanging up.
I'm not dissing the app though, as I'm sure many will use it correctly, and benefit from it.

When you use Slydial the person will still have a missed call from you, so they know that you called them. Although it takes you to their voicemail, their phone will still indicate that you called and they just missed your call for some reason so therefore you can leave a message without talking to them.
