Default Capture It 1.2, On device screen capture - 11-14-2008, 01:57 PM

This is a preview of TechMogul Industries applications for Blackberry. The first application I am introducing today is CaptureIt. CaptureIt is a simple utility that allows people to capture a screen shots straight from their Blackberry devices. The image will either be saved to a memory card, or if none is available it will be saved to the device memory. CaptureIt is available today as a free download for all Blackberry users. Simply assign CaptureIt to one of the Blackberry convince keys and press to capture. Stay turned for other exciting releases from TechMogul Industries.

OTA Download Link: www.thetechmogul.com/CaptureIt/CaptureIt.jad

If application errors, make sure permissions are set to allow.

Visit the TheTechmogul.com soon for more releases.

Works on devices 4.3 and higher.

To use: Assign CaptureIt to one of the convince keys. Then from any screen, press the convince key and the capture will be saved. If there is a memory card, it will be saved to that. If there is no memory card it will be saved to the device memory.

Nice, I'll try this out for sure.

Don't we need a *.JAD file for OTA download, though?

Do you have to use a convenience key for this application?

How about some instructions. I see it saves to the root of the picture folder. Can that be changed. How do you engage it to take a particular shot?

Currently yes, you assign it to the convenience key then use the convenience key when you are on the screen you want to capture.

Oh I see you have to assign it to a convenience key for it to work. Well how convenient, or NOT. Still better than nothing.

Wirelessly posted (8320 Titanium)

I agree it isn't that convenient for everyday use...but when you know you NEED/WANT to do a capture, go in and reassign the key real quick, take your shots, then assign it back...seems great to me...I am definately downloading this and trying it out.

Edit - the OTA is taking me from the wap site to the bbf pc site...I can't seem to download it...

Edit #2 - I figured out the download problem from the wap site...when I check the location the link was pointing to from the wap site, it was BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community Not sure why it was doing this, but taking out the bbf reference made it work. So far I like the program.

Well I give candid and honest feedback and I have many developers tell me quite often that they appreciate that. Have a keyboard shortcut of Alt-C would allow you to use the app without giving up a convenience key. Don't know if RIM has that API so there may be no choice.

Okay, maybe Stinsonddog could have said it a little "gentler" but what happened to 473339? Joined in Sept. and already no longer registered after 7 posts (2 of which were in this thread).

But I'm nosey! How come Cool6324 has been a member since July 2006 and just reached 11 posts with this one?

Now, this is just a guess, but it's probably because I had 2 user names...

Maybe if you weren't busy playing super sleuth about matters that don't pertain to you it wouldn't be an issue regardless?

I can't keep up with you folks.

This sounded great to me also and I wanted to look at it. My questioning comes from not being willing to check out any new application that I can't verify who's behind the posting. Why so many people other than the OP being defensive about this?

I'll just stay away from this one for now -- too much weirdness in this thread.

The only 'weirdness' is that Greedy had a 2nd member name - the one above that is 'no longer registered'. Since that's not allowed here, the 2nd name was banned.

So, that being said, I have also installed the application and it works well. Like Stinson, though, I wish it had a different key other than a convience key to snap the picture.

I don't think this thread was fair to me at all. I mean I actually took my time to write something and share it for FREE with the people of this community.

For anyone who is interested....
There will be an update that allows another option for taking screenshots, beside the connivence key option...

PLEASE -- I'm trying to respond as fast as I can. I've been looking for another post by you, Cool6324.

I want to be fair to you, but there was no way for me to identify you vs. 473339 vs. Greedy. With such a small number of posts, I just wanted to be sure this was legit and wouldn't harm my BB or my computer.

And I don't have a problem with the convenience key! I was simply trying to note that Stinsonddog may have said it a little strong, but he, and others still seem to like the product.

I do appreciate the work and I will be checking it out.

I meant no offense.

Now that I got that posted, let me add that I also found your postings on another "mobile phone" forum where you clearly have a long history. For others who may be looking at this app, it may help to know this.

Yes, because your 2 months and 48 posts make you a legitimate judge of character; everyone stands by your testament of other users.

You aren't any more credible than myself, yet I have another user account that I have had here for years. Unfortunately I don't know what email address I used for it and I can't remember the password...

If a mod could help me with the above issue please pm me...

Posted a response in haste and decided to remove it. This thread is about Capture-It, not a place to react to a thread-crapper.

Greedy, this is your LAST warning. Stop crapping in this thread or you will be gone.

Knock it off.

Stay on topic. That goes for anyone else. No more discussion except for the application the OP was nice enough to develop and share.

Cool6324, thanks, nice app. We have to look at these apps (especially from new developers such as yourself) such as I did above to note that you posted a cod file rather than a jad file for the OTA download, and same as Stinson's suggestion.

Can't wait for the update!

And make sure you set it to the convenience key otherwise when you click on the CaptureIt icon you'll wind up with seemingly no response, but you'll get a bunch of pictures of your BB desktop.

Thank you for your suggestions. TechMogul Industries loves to hear feedback from our users. Today we are releasing version 1.2. Version 1.2 has the following new features:
  • Application runs at startup.
  • Captures can now be taken via the Blackberry menu.
  • Vibration after a capture.

I would also like to give a huge thanks to our co-Developer In Chief Landon Rodgers, for his contributions. His outlook and development skills are greatly appreciated on our team.

You can grab the latest version below (Desktop and OTA Installation)
http://www.thetechmogul.com/CaptureIt/CaptureIt.jad

Can you make this program work for OS 4.2? I installed this on my BB8830 WE running 4.2.2.196 before I noticed the OS 4.3 disclaimer and it gives an exception when I try to run it:

Error starting CaptureIt: Symbol 'JPEGEncodedImage encode' not found

I'm a Mac user so the only screenshot solutions for me right now would involve my Windows PC at work. :(

BTW, did you notice your web site is a wordpress "Hello World" placeholder and there are no links (that I could find) to CaptureIt?

Very cool app. Just downloaded it, and already getting some use out of it.
By the way, is there anyway to disable the vib? It's OK and all, and not really a bother, but I'd like to be able to have control over it. The first couple times, I thought someone was texting me right after I took the shot.

Peace,

Kamau
