Default WeatherWatcher - Freeware Weather Application - 11-14-2008, 05:37 PM

Hi all,

I've just release version 0.1 of a new Blackberry application: Weather Watcher. It allows you to check weather conditions, and a 5 day forecast, for locations all over the world.

As I mentioned, this is only version 0.1. Any suggestions for future improvements are more than welcome!

Thanks, Ben

Are your APN details set correctly? You can check them in Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP.

Sorry that everyone seems to be having problems! I've updated the app to include better error reporting. Don and akosnitzky, if you try it out again can you let me know what error message you get?

Many thanks, Ben

love the display! I live in canada and it works fine for me so North American cities shouldn't be a problem.

What I'd like to see is saved profiles or searches, so that you don't always have to type in the city name every single time

The app supports cities all over the world.

@Supersonix: I'm glad it works for you. Some people have reported problems, although I'm not sure what devices there are problems on. Saved searched is something I'm going to add in the next release.

I've installed this on my 8330 (4.5.0.97) and an unable to get any locations to come up.

If I enter a zip code or just a city name, I get "ERROR: HTTP response code: 301"

If I enter a city & state (Detroit, MI), I get "ERROR: HTTP response code: 400"

i'd love to give it a try if we can get it work.

Can everyone getting the error "connection not writable" let me know what OS version they're running? I think it might be a problem on certain 4.5 releases. I'll try and get this fixed ASAP!

@juwaack68: I can't reproduce that problem myself. Can you let me know your OS too? And do you get the same error with different locations, or just the ones you entered? How about if you try something like "London"?

My OS is 4.5.0.97 on an 8330 (CDMA) device.

If I enter a zip code or just a city name (like "London"), I get "ERROR: HTTP response code: 301"

If I enter a city & state (Detroit, MI), I get "ERROR: HTTP response code: 400"

Sorry for the delay everyone, but I think I've finally tracked down the problem and fixed it. I've uploaded a new version of weather watcher that can be installed OTA from http://www.plasis.co.uk/weatherwatcher

I've tested it on a 4.5.0.55 device and I don't get the "Connection not writeable" error. Would someone who got the error before be willing to test it again and let me know if it works for them? Many thanks!

If I enter a zip code or just a city name, I get "ERROR: HTTP response code: 301"

If I enter a city & state (Detroit, MI), I get "ERROR: Connection closed."

Same as another person above me. Here is my info :

TMobile
8120 Pearl
4.5.0.102 os

I also would love to get this to work as a nice easy to use weather application with a good gui is a must for bb's. I am using weathereye at the moment, but would love to get this one working... let me know.

Works fine for me. One question though, how do I get the App to save my locations so that when i go back into it at a later time, those locations are 'there'. (was asked previously but I didn't see a response.)

Nice application nonetheless.
