Default QUICKPULL - similar to SoftReset, but works with 4.5+

Please Login to Remove!

Just found this little app in the CrackBerry store:

QuickPull - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Software - Crackberry Store

Serves the same purpose as SoftReset, but works with any OS above 4.2, including OS 4.5 and above.

Yeah, I never heard of it either. I think it just came out today.

Yeah, it works. I installed it and tested it before I posted about it.

It's 20k, so it's bigger than SoftReset which I think was only like 5k, but it's still tiny. I have 4.5.0.99 installed, and this worked without any issues.

SoftReset already works with 4.5, as long as you're not running one of the extremely old versions of 4.5....

No, it doesn't, at least not always. I have 4.5.0.99 and I could not get SoftReset to work, even with the suggested workarounds. I have seen some people report that SoftReset still works, but I have seen other people report that it does not work. Regardless, QuickPull is now another option that definitely does work.

Well..... QuickPull doesn't seem to work with the Bold on 4.6.0.190. Java Exception error and "Something went wrong. Aborting"

It works for some, doesn't work for others.

I have an 8100 Pearl running 4.5.0.99 and I couldn't get it to work. I even tried changing the permissions as some have suggested. It just wouldn't work.

As I said earlier, options are a good thing. The BB community now has two options, SoftReset and QuickPull. Hopefully, one of them will work for everybody.

Working for me on my Bold running 4.6.0.190... but so did Soft Reset.

That said, I have no advice to offer other than check permissions and pull battery (which I'm sure you've tried already).

Yup...the more the merrier. Who knew rebooting would be such a popular activity. ;)

Same thing happened on my 8800: 4.5.0.81.

I certainly got the intended effect - a reboot - when I uninstalled this app.

Personally I haven't had the need for these rebooting apps in quite some time, so this was just a test.

Soft-reset has worked fine for me with OS 4.5 on my 8320. You have to allow permissions...

How is this different than Alt-RightShift-Delete, which reboots the phone? What's the advantage of having aftermarket software to do this? Thanks.

It's specifically for 81xx (and ppl with fat fingers that have the other models).

Alt-RightShift-Delete does not work on the 81xx model BBs.

On other models, I've read (although I can't confirm) that a battery pull (which QuickPull simulates) frees more memory than Alt-RightShift-Delete.
